Description: The Design Show 2012, which ran from 5 to 7 April 2012 at VivoCity showcased the finest works of more than 300 designers -- graduating students from Temasek Polytechnic's School of Design. Among the works showcased were "Beatboxers" -- the local beatboxing website, 808Beatz.com, complete with a new logo, by Leslie Teo from Interactive Media Design, "Helix - electric car charging kiosks" by Kevin Chiam from Product & Industrial Design, "Preserving Bukit Brown" by Alicia Ang from Interior Architecture & Design and a documentary about the plight of the homeless in Singapore by Anisa Bte Abdul Latiff from Moving Images.

Description: Under the Spring Singapore's Innovation Voucher Scheme (IVS), Temasek Polytechnic's School of Applied Science helped small and medium enterprises (SMES) developed innovative ideas to stay ahead of competition. Temasek Polytechnic (TP) had developed 31 projects which were showcased at TP's School of Applied Science Project Show held on 28 March 2012. Tongkat Ali and Diabetic-friendly cheesecakes were among the projects showcased. Mr Allan Albert Teoh, founder, AllanBakes and Dr Lau Peck Ting, Managing Director, Quintech life Sciences Pte Ltd shared on the benefits of IVS. The IVS had also benefitted the local traditional medicine industry such as H.W. Traditional Medicine, Wen Ken Marketing and Tai Tong Ah Co. During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was inked between Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) and TP. Under the terms of agreement, NJUCM would provide expertise over three years to further strengthen ASc's capability in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLCP) fingerprinting. The event also saw the launch of a book titled "High performance liquid chromatography fingerprinting technology of the commonly-used traditional Chinese medicine herbs".

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's's Engineering Project Show was held on 26 July 2012 at Temasek Convention Centre. Among the 25 projects on display were "Self-inflating tyre", "Gen-Y power socket" & "Gen-Y" power plug, "Car seat aid" and "EZ paraplegic walker". The two mechatronic students behind the Self-inflating tyre which used a system that pumped up the tyres as one rode the bicycle received a Merit award at the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors' Award.

Description: Stylish protective gear for PMD users, Car-lite malls of the future and Athleisure-Inspired wedding gowns were only some of the 400 innovative projects showcased by the graduating class of TP School of Design. These projects across fashion, architecture, film, product design and communication design disciplines was held from 8 to 11 March 2019 at the Temasek Polytechnic School of Design, Block 28A. In an effort to train young minds to be responsible designers, the Design Show also included Sustainability Awards. The top three projects that address bigger issues of the world through their designs such as reducing poverty, resolving hunger and responsible consumption, received a $1,000 prize each. This year was also the inaugural run of The Pitch a new initiative that saw 11 commercially viable final-year projects spanning the range of fashion, product and communication design ideas, pitched to a panel of angel investors, commercial incubators and venture capitalists.

Description: With the telecom boom and healthy growth in the smartphone market in 2011, many graduating students from Temasek Polytechnic's Diploma of Business IT chose to design and develop applications for the mobile platform. Highlights of the show were "MP14: Pinyin Island iPhone Game" targeted at audience of kids aged 5-12 to make learning Mandarin fun, "MP15: My Heartland Singapore Web Portal" developed for Crystal Horizon Pte Ltd. and aimed to promote awareness of events in heartland malls, "MP17: World Gourmet Summit iPhone App" an iPhone app for Peter Knipp Holding's World Gourmet Summit and "MP19: LifeAtEvent Android App" a mobile app that allowed users to share attractions through photos, and which was one of the recipients of the prestigious 2011 Explorer Grant award. The Course Manager, Benedict Fernandez shared that students were free to choose what they want to work on and who they work with. Among the graduating students who participated in the projects were Darren Teo Wei Jie and Alvin Hoe. MeetingYoungMinds@BIT 2012 was held on 23 February 2012.

Description: A showcase of more than 40 projects by Temasek Polytechnic's School of Applied Science was held at TP's Applied Science Show to industry partners and the public on Wednesday, 1 October 2014 at TP's Auditorium 3. The opening address was delivered by Dr Lee Chee Wee, Director, School of Applied Science, Temasek Polytechnic. Among the projects showcased were "Turning waste to plastic", "Improving nutrition and quality of ornamental fish" and "1st database on the GI of Asian food". Professor (Dr.) Thomas Wolever, the world's founder of GI Testing, was in attendance at the show. Representatives from industry partners like Sembcorp, Agilent Technologies Singapore and Hockhua Traditional Medicine participated in the industry symposium.

Press release. 04 Oct. 2016. Temasek Polytechnic scientists set to boost productivity of SMEs with Centre of Innovation for Complementary Health Products

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) launched Singapore's first Centre of Innovation for Complementary Health Products (COI CHP) in June 2016. Funded by SPRING Singapore, it was a one-stop service centre for CHP related enterprises. The key capability areas of the COI CHP included chemical and biological testing, glycemic index analysis as well as safety and efficacy studies. These were some of the areas that were showcased at TP's annual Applied Science Show held on Wednesday, 5 October 2016. A two-day International Conference in Analytical Science followed the Applied Science Show. Some of the related projects serviced by the COI CHP on show included: Herbal ingredient screening of GNC's liver protector for quality control and Rapid testing to identify antioxidant compounds in food, herbs and CHP. The opening of the show also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between TP and its industry partner Eu Yan Sang Singapore. Mr Peter Lam, Principal & CEO, Temasek Polytechnic delivered the welcome address and Dr Lee Chee Wee, Director, TP's School of Applied Science gave the opening address. Dr Kalpana Bhaskaran, Glycemic Index Research Unit, Temasek Polytechnic presented a paper on "Winning the war on diabetes -- the low GI way!"

Press release. 05 Jan. 2017. TP students develop a system that lights up road dividers during heavy downpour to help motorists

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Engineering Project Show 2017 was held on Friday, 6 January 2017 at its Multi-Purpose Hall. One of the projects showcased was a system that lighted up the road divider when it rained, thus allowing motorists to see better in stormy, thundery conditions. Also among the 56 final-year projects were ideas targeted at the elderly which won awards at the "Cool ideas for better HDB living" competition. Examples of such project were the "Elderly friendly mop & pail", "Elderly safe trolley" and "Smart active wheelchair". Other highlights of the Engineering Project Show were an energy-saving invention which cooled only the bed of a person who was sleeping, rather than the entire room, and a remote controlled drone which was being developed to carry, fly and drop a life buoy to a drowning person at sea.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Engineering Project Show was held on Friday 9 January 2015 at the Temasek Convention Centre. Some 80 final-year projects were showcased. Among them were: an anti-riot shield with a miniature wireless camera and LED strobe lights to capture video footage of the goings-on in front of the shield, and monitored remotely and real-time at a police command centre; an enhanced ground operations safety manual that is on par with international standards; a device to deter cash card thefts from a car's In-Vehicle Unit; a remote controlled drone to save a drowning person at sea.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show was held on Wednesday, 22 February 2017. Some 30 final-year projects developed by the graduating students of TP's Business Information Technology (BIT) course were on show to the public. One of the projects showcased was FALL-D -- a fall-detecting monitoring system that used a combination of motion detection, motion acceleration and voice recognition devices to trigger alerts to the caregiver via mobile application, if an emergency was suspected. Other student projects included the following: Enabling healthier meal choices from food photos and Facilities incident report system (FIRS) -- discussions were initiated with TP's Estates and Facilities Management Department to test-bed the system within campus. Also present were representatives from industry partners like FOMO Pay Private Ltd and Onelyst. Co-founder and CEO of Onelyst, Hizam Ismail, is a BIT alumnus and a graduate from TP in 2010.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's "Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show" was held on Wednesday, 24 February 2016 at Temasek Polytechnic Main Foyer and Auditorium 2. One of the 30 final year projects showcased was the creation of an eParking mobile application and other innovative technical solutions to boost productivity and ease the workload of parking enforcement officers with the use of QR-code scanning. The simple-to-use Android application allowed drivers and motorists to select the location, period of time and load funds to fulfill a parking session. Some of the other final year projects showcased included "Tri-factor authentication mechanism to track event attendance" and "On-the-go volunteering". Description: The October intake of Temasek Polytechnic's School of Engineering showcased 30 final-year projects at the Engineering Project Show on 25 July 2013. Among the projects showcased were Aqua saver shower system -- a finalist in the Cool Ideas for Better HDB Living competition, this shower system automatically diverted water to a holding tank if its temperature was outside a pre-specified range, thereby saving water; Contactless charger -- a prototype of a contactless charger for mobile phones, laptops and other mobile devices; and Easy gripper -- this Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors' Award nominee for 2014 was a device which helped the elderly or those with weak fingers or sweaty palms to pull out an AC plug from its socket effortlessly and safely.
