Campus Care Network Day 2007

Description: Twice a year, Temasek Polytechnic holds its Campus Care Network (CCN) Day, a long-held tradition where staff and students put up a campus-wide bazaar and online sale to raise funds for students in need of financial assistance. The aim of this polywide event is to cultivate community spirit and bonding for staff and students. The first CCN Day for 2007 was held on 18 May. Stalls were set up at the plaza and along the Schools' concourse areas selling an assortment of items ranging from food, such as, roti jala, chocolate fondue and brownies; drinks; bags; balloon sculptures and more.

Description: The Campus Care Network (CCN) Day is held annually at Temasek Polytechnic, a tradition where staff and students put up a campus-wide bazaar and sale to raise funds for students in need of financial assistance and also to cultivate community spirit and bonding amongst staff and students. The CCN Day was held on 8 August 2001 in conjunction with National Day celebration. The theme was Caring Youths Celebrating. Stalls were set up at the plaza and along the Schools' concourse areas selling assortment of items such as food like satay, bbq chicken wing, chicken pita, bone steak; costume jewellery and souvenirs. There were also cultural dance and dikir barat performance by TP students for TP's community and guests.

Wellness @ LIB : book display

Description: To support the Women Health Exhibition and in conjunction with TP Wellness Day on 30 October 2008, TP Library held a book display featuring a selection of books and AV resources in late October 2008. Library resources on nutrition, sports, diet, healthy living, wellness and more were selected for display at the Lifestyle floor, Level 3, to create awareness and promote the availability of these titles in the Library.

Temasek Polytechnic Open House 2012, day 2

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) Open House 2012 was held on 5 - 7 January 2012. The annual open house was held to enable secondary school students to make an informed choice regarding their educational path after they have completed their studies. The secondary school students were given the opportunity to meet up with the lecturers from the respective schools, have a chat with them on the diploma courses offered, tour the campus and meet up with Temasek Polytechnic students to find out more about the outstanding facilities, the different options open to them and life in the campus. Some of the activities provided during the 3-day open house included a fashion show, performances by TP students (a roller skating routine, yo-yo performances, concert with live band and TP's own DivoDiva with a medley of songs, students doing TP's signature "Chicky dance", and percussion music), music by popular local band the Goodfellas and live broadcast from the Plaza with DJ Charmaine Yee from Radio 91.3FM.

Poly-ITE Social Innovation Research Forum 2013

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) hosted the annual Poly-ITE Social Innovation Research (SIR) Forum - a platform to showcase projects co-funded by Tote Board as part of the Social Innovation Research (SIR) Fund on Tuesday, 30 July in TP's Auditorium 2. Supported by the National Council of Social Services (NCSS), the SIR Forum 2013 featured 21 research projects related to healthcare, special needs, the elderly, and the environment, undertaken by staff and students from the Institute of Technical Education, Nanyang, Ngee Ann, Republic, Singapore and Temasek Polytechnics. Presentations were made by representatives from each polytechnic and the ITE. The event also included a sharing session by Mrs June Tham, Executive Director, Rainbow Centre, Singapore and Mrs Eunice Tay, CEO, National Kidney Foundation. The SIR Fund provides seed funding for R&D projects that bring social and environmental benefits, and enables these institutions to devise creative and feasible solutions for deployment. Mr Boo Kheng Hua, TP's Principal & CEO gave the opening address.

Applied Food Science & Nutrition students collaboration project with Quaker Oats

Description: Temasek Polytechnics Applied Food Science & Nutrition students worked together with Quaker to develop 20 innovative Asian recipes which included oats. The aim was to make the highly nutritious oats more palatable to the younger market. The recipes were distributed with Quaker’s products which were available locally from September 2008.

Joint admissions exercise 2008

Beside video presentation, talk and quiz, Temasek Business School also offered nine different workshops by the various diplomas that participants could attend based on their interest.

Temasek Polytechnic football mania camp 2006

Description: A two-day, one night football mania camp was organised on 30 June to 1 July 2006 by Temasek Polytechnic Outreach Centre and Student & Alumni Affairs Department. Besides taking part in a 7-a-side soccer tournament, the 200 students from 11 secondary schools were treated to soccer clinic sessions as well as a live screening of the World Cup quarter final matches between Germany and Argentina, Italy and Ukraine. The boys from Queensway Secondary School were the champions of the tournament while Shu Qun Secondary and Bowen Secondary settled for second and third place respectively. Ms Collette Wong from ESPN's Sports Centre presented the prizes to the winners. In the evening, more than 1000 staff and students congregated at the Temasek Convention Centre (TCC) to watch performances by various arts groups from the Temasek Arts Centre such as the fast pace performance by TPs Salvo Drums while Bass Fish, one of TP's very own bands from Music Vox performed a total of 5 songs. The highlight of the evening was catching the two scheduled World Cup matches on the projection screen of the TCC.

Temasek Polytechnic Open House 2006, day 3

Description: The Temasek Polytechnic Open House was held from 19 to 21 January 2006. The annual event was held to enable secondary school students to make an informed choice regarding their educational path after they have completed their studies. Visitors were given the opportunity to meet up with the lecturers from the respective schools to find out more on the diploma courses offered. Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO and senior management staff took the opportunity to walk around the different schools to observe the many different activities that were organised to entice the secondary school students to join the polytechnic after their O Level results. I-Guides, a group of volunteer students, were on hand to guide visitors around the campus and brief them about the various schools and activities going on. Some of the highlights of the the 3-day Open House included a couture catwalk featuring works by Apparel Design & Merchandising students, meet & greet Singapore Idol finalists, Olinda Cho and Sylvester Sim, doodle box, Engineering project show -- "experience" 3D computer graphics and visualisation technologies, animal and fish magic, maze of colourings & flavouring, courses & CCA exhibitions, performances by TP students, and water adventures such as dragon boating, canoeing and canoe-polo held at Bedok Reservoir. The finale of the Open House was the Jam and Hop session on 21 January 2006 evening with performances by Leandra and renowned local groups

Beyond O Level Seminar 2006

Description: The annual Beyond O Level Seminar (BOL) was held on 20 January 2006 at Temasek Polytechnic, Auditorium 1. It was a must-visit event that catered exclusively to the needs of parents and students awaiting the O level results. Organised jointly by Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and the New Paper, and held in conjunction with TP's Open House, the aim of the informative seminar was to address the many questions parents and students had regarding polytechnic education. There were sharing sessions by TP alumni and senior academic staff to answer any questions from the audience concerning the courses available, admission requirements and student life. The Q&A session was chaired by Ms Sharon Soh, TP Registrar and Director, Student & Alumni Affairs.

Float competition

Description: School of Engineering organised a float competition as part of the Freshmen Orientation 1998. Freshmen were given 2 days to design and fabricate their floats based on the themes, "Singapore My Home" or "Technology 2000". They were given only a one-metre wooden pole and a ball of raffia string to start with. Students demonstrated their resourcefulness and creativity by using mainly recycled materials or discarded items to build their floats.

A Treat to an 8 Course Feast - Launch of Temasek Polytechnic Diploma Roadshow @ Tampines East Community Club

Parental guidance seminar 2017

Description: The annual parental guidance seminar was held on Saturday, 17 June 2017. TP hosted the seminar for 1,000 parents and students at the Temasek Convention Centre. They got to find out more about a polytechnic education, TP courses, scholarships, and further education and career opportunities. During the seminar, attendees had a chance to engage with TP's Principal and CEO, Mr Peter Lam, Senior Director and Registar, Mr Daniel Yeow, Director of Academic Affairs, Mr Sng Choon Leng, and Victoria Skull, a third-year student from the Diploma in Digital Film & Television. They were able to get a clearer understanding of the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) and how Temasek Polytechnic helps build lifelong learners in its students. The seminar also consisted of a school tour where participants got to know more about the courses offered in each school. They also visited facilities such as the labs used by students from the Diploma in Applied Food Science and Nutrition and the MediaBiz Studio used by Communications and Media Management students.

Recycling and Temasek Polytechnic
