Description: The Temasek Polytechnic (TP) graduation ceremony spanned over 16 sessions from 3 to 10 May 2018. A total of 5,645 students received their diplomas and post-diploma qualifications from TP's full-time and part-time courses. Day 5 session 13 graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday, 9 May 2018 at 1.30pm at the Temasek Convention Centre. Guest of honour for the ceremony was Mr Volker Schmid, Head of Asia Pacific, Sales Region Asia Pacific Festo Pte Ltd. Library pathfinders

Description: LIbrary pathfinders are subject or course specific guides produced by the Reference staff of Temasek Polytechnic Library. They provided tips on locating key resources in books, periodicals, online databases or on the web. In TP Library, the pathfinders were produced respectively at the Business, Science/Technology and Design Reference floors and placed at the reference counters or were thematically arranged and displayed on brochure stands, information boards, tables or displayed on the side panels of book shelves. From 1998 to 2001, some of the pathfinders produced covered library resources on business, apparel design, culture, resources found in Art index and online databases. Signage was also created to direct users to their respective shelf numbers and subject headings.

Beyond O Level, Poly/JC seminar 2001

Description: The Beyond O Level, a Poly/JC seminar was jointly organised by The New Paper and Temasek Polytechnic on 17 February 2001. It was held at Temasek Polytechnic Auditorium 1. O Level holders and their parents attended the seminar to hear different views of life on campus and to find out what the various educational institutions had to offer. The panel of speakers for the seminar were: Mrs Tan Leng Leng, Director of the Manpower Research and Statistics Department, Ministry of Manpower; Mr Tan Tiek Kwee, principal of Anderson Junior College and Mr Ang Keng Loo, deputy principal of Temasek Polytechnic. Freshmen Orientation Grand Finale 2000

Description: The highlight of TP's Week Zero Orientation Camp 2000 was the traditional "Final Clash", which would see students from the four Schools competing against each other in the telematch and cheerleading competition. Temasek Engineering School emerged as the winner for this year. Over 4000 freshmen sold cute little teddy bears by Sasha Bear Company at various locations around Singapore to raise funds for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), National Kidney Foundation's Children's Kidney Transplant Centre, and TP's Campus Care Network. BG George Yeo, Minister for Trade and Industry, was the Guest-of-Honour for the orientation finale held at the Triangular Garden on 30 June 2000. Five confetti canons were fired, and two students abseiled down from the sixth-storey corridor accompanied by fireworks to welcome him.

Temasek Polytechnic Open House 1998

Description: The Temasek Polytechnic Open House was held from 12 to 14 February 1998. About 400 students were recruited as I-Guides or Information Guides for the first time. The guides acted as walking "information booths", guiding visitors, providing information on the polytechnic and leading groups of students and teachers from their secondary schools to TP. A cybercafe for teachers was also provided for secondary school teachers that accompanied their students to the Open House. Beside course and career counsellings, visitors were also invited to link up with an overseas friend via satellite, design web pages and try pottery and caricature demos. Other highlights included in the annual event were a student fashion show and live performances.

Web Quest: A quest for the most creative Webpage

School of Engineering Orientation Programme

The human chain snaked through the corridors of the campus buildings and the carparks. The activity was part of the School's three-day orientation programme from 4 to 6 July 1994.

Journey of the Youth Olympic flame : community celebration at Temasek Polytechnic

Description: The Youth Olympic flame started its journey through the heartlands of Singapore on a seven day torch relay from 7 to 14 August 2010. On 10 August 2010, Temasek Polytechnic was privileged to play host to this very special event - the arrival of the Youth Olympic flame on the third day of the torch relay which had made its way across the North East district throughout the day. Temasek Polytechnic graduate Foo Xiu Quan, had the honour of carrying the torch across Bedok Reservoir on a dragon boat. A 20-member crew from TP ensured a smooth ride for the symbol of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Singapore was hosting. Flanked by guest of honour, Mr George Yeo, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO, TP's Evangelin Tan brought the Olympic flame into the campus, and Mr Yeo lit the cauldron with the Youth Olympic flame at the Triangular Garden. Performances by Monsters, a Taiwanese cheerleading team, Derrick Hoh from the reality singing contest "Project Superstar", TP Vox, Riley in the Morning and TP's Dance Ensemble made it an enjoyable and memorable night for all. To end the night, students sang the YOG theme song, "Everyone". Also participating in the Community Celebration @ TP to welcome the arrival of the YOG flame at the Triangular Garden were Mr Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community, Youth & Sports, Mr Ng Ser Miang, Chairman of Singapore 2010 Organising Committee and Mr Seah Moon Ming, Chairman of TP's Board of Governors.

Temasek Polytechnic Open House 2010, day 3

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) Open House 2010 was held on 7 to 9 January 2010. The annual open house was held to enable secondary school students to make an informed choice regarding their educational path after they have completed their studies. The secondary school students were given the opportunity to meet up with the lecturers from the respective schools, have a chat with them on the diploma courses offered, tour the campus and meet up with TP students to find out more about the outstanding facilities, the different options open to them and life in the campus. Some of the activities provided during the 3-day open house included a fashion show, performances by TP students (Malay Dance Group, Salvo Drums Troupe, The Blazers cheerleading team, concert with live band, percussion music) culminating in the Jam & Hop celebration with Zouk DJ Andrew Chow playing live non-stop hit music.

Symposium on Traditional Medicine cum launch of Centre for Traditional Medicine

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's School of Applied Science (ASc) organised the Symposium on Traditional Medicine on 6 April 2010. The welcome address was given by Mrs Lay-Tan Siok Lie, Deputy Principal and the guest of honour was Mr Ted Tan, Deputy CEO, SPRING Singapore. Guests speakers for the symposium included Dr Lee Chee Wee, Chief Executive Officer, Lynk Biotechnologies P/L, Dr Allan Lim, Coordinator, Nestle R&D Center (Pte) Ltd Singapore, Ms Karol Tong, President, The Medicine Manufacturing Association of Singapore and Ms Samantha Su, Deputy Director, Services & Biomedical and International Partnership Office (Europe & Middle East) SPRING Singapore. Mrs Soon-Ong Meng Wan, Director, School of Applied Science gave tokens of appreciation to the guest speakers. The symposium was followed by the launch of the Centre for Traditional Medicine by guest of honour Mr Ted Tan. Mr Tan and symposium participants were given a tour of the Centre for Traditional Medicine after the launch. The Centre provides an integrated approach to present ASc's comprehensive capabilities in traditional medicine (TM) to the industry. With the growing interest in this alternative medical system, the Centre would serve as a one-stop centre offering services ranging from consultancy to training especially in the modernisation of the TM industry as it hopes to preserve the relevance of TM for the younger generation, focusing on the quality, safety and efficacy of TM.

Beyond O Level Seminar 2009

Description: The annual Beyond O Level Seminar (BOL) was held on 10 January 2009 at the Temasek Convention Centre. It was a must-visit event that catered exclusively to the needs of parents and students awaiting the O level results. Organised by the Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and held in conjunction with TP's Open House, the aim of the informative seminar was to address the many questions parents and students had regarding polytechnic education. Current TP students shared their views on their diplomas and campus life and the visitors were given a runthrough of the 50 diplomas offered by TP, including the latest additions.

Campus Care Network Day, May 2017

Description: The Campus Care Network (CCN) Day Carnival is a signature event of the Temasek Polytechnic. Held twice a year on campus, the carnival brings the entire polytechnic together as staff and students set up stalls to raise funds for students in need of financial assistance. The first CCN Day of the year was held on 19 May 2017. In conjuction with CCN day, TP Archives organised the first CCN curated exhibition at the Library. The opening event was graced by past and current CCN Chairs and advisors. In addition, the exhibition showcased exhibits comprising of photos, videos and handcrafted items sold in the past CCN carnivals.

Tourism Innovation Competition 2013

Description: Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) is an annual competition that started in 2010. Organised by Temasek Polytechnic's School of Business and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, the competition aims to arm student participants with opportunities to learn more about the tourism industry as well as career opportunities available. The theme for 2013 looked at the youth tourism market, and how Singapore could be made into a major youth tourism destination. Some 49 teams of students from 26 secondary schools and ITE participated in TIC 2013, and the teams were given one month to work on their proposals and were mentored by industry experts. The grand finale for the competition was held on 16 July, and students had to present their creative strategies which would produce innovative experiences for younger tourists aged 18 to 35 years old, while the Auditorium foyer was turned into an exciting exhibition of novel tourism ideas. Four students from Zhonghua Secondary School won the competition with their Cosplay theme where guests could try their hands at bringing characters they were playing to life. Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, TP's School of Business gave the welcome address, while Ms Chiew Chien Way, Asst Director, Capability and Innovation, Singapore Tourism Board presented the awards to winners of TIC 2013.

Global Community Day 2018

Description: Global Community Day (GCD) 2018 was held on 6 July 2018. Mr. Lee Kok Choy, Chairman, Board of Governors Temasek Polytechnic (TP) was the guest-of-honour at the event. "sAme SamE And differeNt"" was a line that perfectly encapsulated the similarities and yet unique differences amongst the ASEAN nations, which was also why it made an ideal theme for TP's signature Global Community Day 2018. The event commemorated Singapore's ASEAN Chairmanship during this review year and saw an estimated 1,000 participants from the five polytechnics, secondary schools, ASEAN nations, embassies and industries enjoying and participating in the vibrant festivities.

Description: TP Graduation Ceremony 1998: Dare to Dream, was held at the Temasek Polytechnic Auditorium from 15 to 19 August 1998. The ceremonies spanned over ten sessions and were also held in the evenings for the first time. Guest-of-Honour, RADM Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Education and 2nd Minister for Defence officiated the opening session held on Saturday, 15 August 1998 at 9.00 am. A total of 2589 students graduated from 19 full-time diploma courses and 14 part-time courses.

Human Wheelbarrow Challenge at TP

Description: Temasek Polytechnic set a new Guinness World Record for the largest human wheelbarrow race. A total of 1,378 participants joined the event held on 24 Apr 2009 at the Sports Complex. This defeated the previous record of 1,044 participants set by the Carey Baptist Grammar School of Melbourne on 9 Sep 2008. At the same event, the Polytechnic also made it into the Singapore Book of Records, by setting 4 records for the fastest human wheelbarrow race, fastest human wheelbarrow relay, the longest human wheelbarrow chain, and the longest human wheelbarrow endurance. This event marked the end of freshmen orientation and the beginning of the new academic year. Besides welcoming the freshmen into the TP family, the event also aimed to further strengthen the TP camaraderie.
