Temasek Polytechnic football mania camp 2006

Description: A two-day, one night football mania camp was organised on 30 June to 1 July 2006 by Temasek Polytechnic Outreach Centre and Student & Alumni Affairs Department. Besides taking part in a 7-a-side soccer tournament, the 200 students from 11 secondary schools were treated to soccer clinic sessions as well as a live screening of the World Cup quarter final matches between Germany and Argentina, Italy and Ukraine. The boys from Queensway Secondary School were the champions of the tournament while Shu Qun Secondary and Bowen Secondary settled for second and third place respectively. Ms Collette Wong from ESPN's Sports Centre presented the prizes to the winners. In the evening, more than 1000 staff and students congregated at the Temasek Convention Centre (TCC) to watch performances by various arts groups from the Temasek Arts Centre such as the fast pace performance by TPs Salvo Drums while Bass Fish, one of TP's very own bands from Music Vox performed a total of 5 songs. The highlight of the evening was catching the two scheduled World Cup matches on the projection screen of the TCC.

Temasek Regatta 2006

Description: Temasek Regatta 2006 kicked off on April 21, 2006 with secondary school students, TP students, and staff gathering at the Bedok Reservoir for a battle on the water. The regatta was the grand finale of the Temasek Polytechnic freshmen orientation 2006. For the second year running, numerous secondary schools were invited to compete against one another in the dragon boat competition as part of TP's outreach programme. After an intense fight, CHIJ Katong Convent finished first in the Women's Finals, while Mayflower and Evergreen Secondary Schools came in second and third, respectively. In the Men's Finals, Victoria School emerged champion, while Bukit Panjang and Chung Cheng High (Yishun) finished runners-up and second runners-up, respectively. In the afternoon, staff and students, led by Principal & CEO Mr Boo Kheng Hua, took to the water to compete in the inter-school dragon boat races and friendship races.

After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Temasek Regatta x Samudra was held on the afternoon of 13 April 2023. Description: Temasek Tech2000 Games held on 15 September 2000 was organised by Temasek Engineering School as part of the national Techmonth 2000 and TP's 10th Anniversary celebration. About 500 secondary school students attended the event and participated in the games and competitions organised. Guest-of-Honour for the event was Mr Teo Ming Kian, Chairman of the National Science and Technology Board.

The Tourism Academy @ Sentosa Resource Centre

Description: The Tourism Academy @ Sentosa Resource Centre (TASRC) officially opened its doors to Temasek Polytechnic (TP) staff and students pursuing the Hospitality and Tourism Management diploma course on 11 May 2005. The Resource Centre was run by TP Library with staff being seconded to work there on a rotational basis. The Resource Centre occupied one of the 4 colonial barracks that was restored and converted into the Tourism Academy @ Sentosa (TAS) campus in December 2004, a collaborative venture between Temasek Polytechnic and Sentosa Leisure Group. Renovation works on the Resource Centre started in early 2005, and by April, furniture, built-in fittings, equipment and IT setup were completed and the Centre was ready for occupation. The TASRC offered a niche collection of titles in subjects ranging from hospitality, culinary arts, travel to leisure. It also offered a selection of fiction titles, newspapers, periodicals and AV items such as movies and music CDs, to meet the learning and leisure needs of its members. However, with the closure of the Tourism Academy @ Sentosa on 26 August 2011, the Resource Centre ceased operations, and library staff started the big move back to TP Library at Tampines. This involved stock-taking of over 7,000 items consisting of books, journals and audio-visuals materials; RFID retagging of the resources as well as dismantling and packing of the 3M security gates, audio-visual and computer equipment and peripherals in preparation for the items to be transported back to the Tampines campus by 30 September 2011.

The many faces of Singapore 2004

Description: The finals for the 5th Singapore Tourism Competition for schools, "The Many Faces of Singapore", was held at Temasek Polytechnic Auditorium on July 2004. It was jointly organised by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Singapore Chapter and Temasek Polytechnic with support from Singapore Tourism Board. The competition was opened to all secondary schools and students were encouraged to explore unique ideas based on local heritage, history, beliefs, or the arts to draw tourist to Singapore. About 4,600 students from 61 secondary schools took part in the competition with 16 teams making it to the finals.

The many faces of Singapore: Singapore tourism competition for schools 2001

Description: The "Many Faces of Singapore" competition, opened to all secondary schools, was held to expore ways to promote Singapore as an ideal tourist destination. It was organised by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Singapore Chapter together with the Temasek Business School. Student teams were required to submit a 2,000 word report on their ideas to promote Singapore as a tourist destination. On 25 May 2001, the shortlisted teams set up exhibition booths in Temasek Polytechnic to present their ideas in a multi-sensory environment.

Think Tank! Inaugural household objects design competition winners exhibition 2003

Description: Think Tank, an inaugural household objects design competition organised jointly by furniture lifestyle company X-tra Designs and Takashimaya Singapore saw 71 students from Temasek Design School redesigned everyday items such as back scratchers, tooth pick holders and laundry forks with a stylish twist. The top 30 re-designed items shortlisted from the entries received were exhibited at Takashimaya Department Store from 12 to 28 September 2003.

Tibs great bendy bus squeeze: Guinness world record

Description: On 6 July 1998, a Guinness world record was set when 438 Temasek Polytechnic students squeezed into a Trans-Island (Tibs) bendy bus. The record-breaking event was a grand finale to a week-long orientation programme. Tibs bought a bandanna at $5 for every student that squeezed into the bus. Proceeds from the Bandanna sale went to four Singapore welfare organisations - Singapore Association for the Deaf, the Handicap Welfare Association, the Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped and the Spastic Children's Association of Singapore.

Tourism Innovation Competition 2012

Description: Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) is an annual competition that started in 2010. Organised by Temasek Polytechnic's School of Business and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, the competition aims to arm student participants with opportunities to learn more about the tourism industry as well as career opportunities available. Now in its third year, TIC 2012 was held from 15 June to 22 June. The theme for 2012 was "Sentosa visitor experience: a destination that is accessible to visitors with special needs". Participants had to come up with innovative solutions to provide better accessibility for special needs visitors in Sentosa. Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, TP School of Business gave the welcome address, while guest speakers included Ms Lilian Kuan, Asst Director, Sector Capability Development, Singapore Tourism Board and Ms Lim Suu Kuan, Divisional Director, Guest Experience Division, Sentosa Development Coroporation. Lecturers from the Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM)/Leisure & Resort Management (LRM) diploma courses gave detailed briefing of the theme & competition to participants. More than 201 students from 23 secondary schools and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) attended 2 workshops 'Special needs and creativity' and 'Walkabouts in Sentosa' to deepen their understanding of tourism and special needs problems. The 47 competing teams had to go through a series of consultations with industry experts to fine-tune their proposals before making their presentation to the judges. The champion of TIC 2012 was the Zest team from Zhonghua Secondary School.

Tourism Innovation Competition 2013

Description: Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) is an annual competition that started in 2010. Organised by Temasek Polytechnic's School of Business and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, the competition aims to arm student participants with opportunities to learn more about the tourism industry as well as career opportunities available. The theme for 2013 looked at the youth tourism market, and how Singapore could be made into a major youth tourism destination. Some 49 teams of students from 26 secondary schools and ITE participated in TIC 2013, and the teams were given one month to work on their proposals and were mentored by industry experts. The grand finale for the competition was held on 16 July, and students had to present their creative strategies which would produce innovative experiences for younger tourists aged 18 to 35 years old, while the Auditorium foyer was turned into an exciting exhibition of novel tourism ideas. Four students from Zhonghua Secondary School won the competition with their Cosplay theme where guests could try their hands at bringing characters they were playing to life. Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, TP's School of Business gave the welcome address, while Ms Chiew Chien Way, Asst Director, Capability and Innovation, Singapore Tourism Board presented the awards to winners of TIC 2013.

Tourism Innovation Competition 2014

Description: Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) was held from 10 June to 17 June 2014. It was organised by Temasek Polytechnic School of Business and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board. The aim of the competition was to arm student participants with opportunities to learn more about the tourism industry as well as career opportunities available in this field. This year's theme was "Sustainability and the hotel sector". There were close to 150 student participants from various Secondary Schools and the ITE who presented creative proposals reinforcing and reinventing sustainable approaches to hospitality operations, specifically in the hotel sector. The winner was Team Captivators from Zhonghua Secondary School.

Vehicles entering Temasek Polytechnic campus post circuit breaker

Description: Drivers and their passengers are required to check in using Safe Entry, show their staff identification and temperature badge to the security guard before entry. If they do not have the temperature badge then they will have to park their car and proceed to the sheltered canopy to have their temperature taken. Only the WEST Gate is accessible to all vehicles entering TP campus.

Visit by students of Yishun Town Secondary School

Description: On 3 July 2013, students from Yishun Town Secondary School visited the Temasek Polytechnic. Staff from the Centre for Foundation Studies shared on the different admission routes to polytechnic studies including the one-year Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) at TP. The foundation programmme's practice-oriented curriculum will prepare Normal (Academic) students for entry into relevant polytechnic diploma courses. The 1st batch of student intake for the PFP @ TP commenced in April 2013 for students who performed very well in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE N-level Examinations.

WOW shopping experience : inaugural National Retailing Competition 2013

Description: The inaugural National Retailing Competition 2013 which served as both a competition and exhibition, was organised by the Temasek Polytechnic School of Business Diploma in Retail Management. Having started in June 2013 and culminating with an exhibition in September, the competition saw individuals from secondary schools and ITEs pit their retail ideas against each other. Finalists were eventually shortlisted and invited to put up exhibits at the WOW shopping experience. The competition had a two fold objective, which was aimed at raising awareness about the retail industry whilst tapping into and attracting bright young minds to the retail industry. The competition also aimed to be enriching for its participants. Participants were required to attend an informative mini workshop which had industry professionals giving various talks. Through these workshops, students learnt the other facets of the retail industry such as branding and the importance of local and overseas fashion trends. Participants also toured 1st Avenue, TP's on-campus retail training store run by Year 2 students from the Diploma in Retail Management.

We Draw Amaravati Together : An exhibition by Urban Sketchers Singapore

Description: "We Draw Amaravati Together" is a project involving sketchers from the Urban Sketchers Singapore and parts of India. In collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic, and supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore) as well as Amaravati Partnership Office, the artists visited villages in Amaravati, India, to capture images that showcased its culture and landscapes before its impending urbanization. The exhibition was held at the Glocal Connect Village from 16 April to 20 June 2018 and the guest of honor was Mr Khoo Teng Chye, executive director of Centre for Liveable Cities.​

Web Quest: A quest for the most creative Webpage
