Description: Temasek Polytechnic organised the Tourism Innovation Competition 2012 for 205 students from 23 Secondary Schools and ITE Colleges. It was held from 15 to 22 June 2012. A total of 47 teams attempted to provide innovative solutions to accessibility problems for the special needs visitor in Sentosa. The special needs visitor profile included the disabled, elderly, families with young children, nursing mothers, and pregnant women. Consultation was held with TP's Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) / Leisure Resort Management (LRM) lecturers as well as staff from Singapore Tourism Board and Sentosa Development Corporation to fine-tune proposals on their assigned areas. The participants set up 47 on-site displays for the judges to view. The top 3 teams presented their proposals to the judges and their peers on 22 June 2012. Teo Wei Xuan, Cedar Girls Secondary School and Florentino Gem Paula Villar, from Yishun Town Secondary School gave comments on their proposals.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) Culinary & Catering Management senior, Mr Poh Zhe Kai, emerged champion after beating 14 other top local culinary students across 7 institutions in the prestigious Les Amis Awards 2015 Challenge. Andre Chiang (Restaurant Andre), Joshua Brown (CUT by Wolfgang Puck), and Willin Low (Wild Rocket Restaurant) were among the panel of 12 esteemed chef judges assembled by Les Amis. Zhe Kai took home the $3,000 cash prize, as well as an all-expenses paid '10 Michelin Stars' trip to Europe. Besides that, he also had the invaluable opportunity to meet the chef-owners behind revered kitchens such as Le Petit Nice and Troisgros.

Among the projects showcased were: a mobile application for "Packnada", a local start-up co-founded by TP alumni Johnbosco Ng that helped frequent travellers to Singapore skip packing, and travel without their luggage; customised resumes from your mobile device - a simple, mobile-friendly, one-stop job matching portal that focused on part-time work which catered to job seekers in the service industry; bump and scan for supplements on the go - a fuss-free online shopping at your fingertips with the NutriFirst mobile application featuring a refer-and-reward system via "bumping" or sharing offers with friends. Approximately 30 final-year projects by Business Information Technology diploma students were showcased

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 24 July 2012 with the Institute of Public Relations Singapore (IPRS) to launch the 1st PR student chapter at TP's School of Business. The chapter was the first of its kind in Singapore between a Polytechnic and the PR industry to foster greater awareness of public relations. With this initiative, TP students in the Diploma in Communications and Media Management (CMM), Diploma in Business (BUS) and Diploma in Marketing (MKG) could leverage on the many networking and mentorship programmes offered by IPRS. The MOU was signed by Mr Daniel Yeow , Director, TP's School of Business and Mr Ng Wei Joo, IPRS President.

Press release. 27 June 2013. Menlo Worldwide Logistics and Temasek Polytechnic establish scholarship programme, announce 2013 winners

Description: Menlo Worldwide Logistics (Menlo) and Temasek Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 27 June 2013 to establish a new scholarship programme for students pursuing careers in logistics and supply chain management. Under the programme, Menlo established four annual scholarships of S$2,500 each. These scholarships were awarded to selected students in their third and final year of study pursuing the Diploma in Operations and Logistics Managementat at TP's School of Business. The recipients of Menlo's four scholarships for 2013 were Ong Si Ru Sharon, Lim KeWei Daryl James, Goh Jia Xian and Shen Zhi Kai Darrell. The MOU was signed by Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, School of Business, Temasek Polytechnic and Mr Desmond Chan, Managing Director, South Asia for Menlo.

Press release. 20 Feb. 2017. Grandma's fractured hip after fall leads to invention of a non-intrusive fall detection system

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show was held on Wednesday, 22 February 2017. Some 30 final-year projects developed by the graduating students of TP's Business Information Technology (BIT) course were on show to the public. One of the projects showcased was FALL-D -- a fall-detecting monitoring system that used a combination of motion detection, motion acceleration and voice recognition devices to trigger alerts to the caregiver via mobile application, if an emergency was suspected. Other student projects included the following: Enabling healthier meal choices from food photos and Facilities incident report system (FIRS) -- discussions were initiated with TP's Estates and Facilities Management Department to test-bed the system within campus. Also present were representatives from industry partners like FOMO Pay Private Ltd and Onelyst. Co-founder and CEO of Onelyst, Hizam Ismail, is a BIT alumnus and a graduate from TP in 2010.

Description: The award presentation for the winners of Tourism Innovation Competition 2013 (TIC) was held on Tuesday, 16 July 2013. Some 49 teams of students from 24 schools took part in the 2013 competition with the theme "Youth tourism". TIC was organised by Temasek Polytechnic's School of Business (Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management, and Diploma in Leisure & Resort Management) and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board. It is an annual competition started in 2010, and the aim was to arm student participants with opportunities to learn more about the tourism industry as well as career opportunities available.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's "Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show" was held on Wednesday, 24 February 2016 at Temasek Polytechnic Main Foyer and Auditorium 2. One of the 30 final year projects showcased was the creation of an eParking mobile application and other innovative technical solutions to boost productivity and ease the workload of parking enforcement officers with the use of QR-code scanning. The simple-to-use Android application allowed drivers and motorists to select the location, period of time and load funds to fulfill a parking session. Some of the other final year projects showcased included "Tri-factor authentication mechanism to track event attendance" and "On-the-go volunteering". Industry partners like honestbee.com and SAFESURE Engineering also took part in the discussion on driving innovations with technology. Mr Aloysius Lau, panelist and MD of SAFESURE was a BIT alumnus.

Description: TP students created a Virtual Classroom App for Preschoolers which provided a full curriculum of services such as interactive lessons through games where children can see 3D objects in front of them. Real-time multiplayer games encourage teamwork and promote social skill development, and a point reward system can be exchanged for pets for a quicker assimilation of the subject being taught. The app was one of the 25 final-year projects developed by the graduating students of TP's Business Information Technology (BIT) course. The public can viewed these projects on 21 February 2018 at Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show held at Temasek Polytechnic Main Foyer and Auditorium.

Description: On 19 July 2021, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) launched a Smart e-Commerce Centre (SMEC) to equip students with the skills to meet the demands of borderless retail competition brought forth by the rapid growth of e-commerce. The SMEC also aims to help companies and aspiring entrepreneurs boost their digitalisation efforts through training and collaborations with the TP community and these partners. Description: The inaugural Joint Poly-ITE Tourism Career Fair 2018 was launched on 31 October 2018 by Temasek Polytechnic (TP), which leads the Tourism Sector-Co-ordination team (SCT). The event, Tourism Transformation, raised tourism job profiles and encouraged students to pursue tourism sector careers, as well as served as a platform for tourism partners to showcase career progression pathways and engage potential talents. The Skills Framework for Tourism was also unveiled to support the manpower strategies, highlighting pivotal jobs and critical skills needed in the Tourism sector. It provides information on the sector, career pathways, identifies 109 existing and emerging skills and competencies across 69 occupations/job roles, as well as training programmes which support the development of these skills.

Description: A survey conduced by staff of Temasek Polytechnic's retail management diploma on some 300 youths aged between 16 - 24 revealed that the following factors made for a happier shopping experience: a good retail mix, a clean environment, easy access to public transportation and clear directional signs. The survey done was conducted at the launch of the inaugural National Retailing Competition in June 2013, to better understand youth shopping experience in Singapore. Most of the youths favoured retailers such as Isetan, Takashimaya, Challenger, Courts, H&M, Top Shop, NTUC Fairprice, 7-Eleven, Cheers, Watsons and Guardian.

Mrs Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chairman of Singapore Art Museum, graced the event held on 22 Jan 2011 at Bo Tien Welfare Services Auditorium. The event brought Temasek Polytechnic, Bo Tien Welfare Services and Taman Jurong Malay Activity Executive Club (MAEC) together to bring Chinese New Year festive cheer to the senior citizens.

Some 29 teams of students from 13 secondary schools and the ITE presented their creative proposals reinforcing and reinventing sustainable approaches to hospitality operations, specifically in the hotel sector. The theme for the competition was "Sustainability and the hotel sector" and the winners were announced on Tuesday, 17 June, 2014 at Auditorium 1, Temasek Polytechnic. Description: Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) 2016 was organised by Temasek Polytechnic (TP) School of Business (Hospitality & Tourism Management, and Leisure & Event Management divisions) and supported by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Singapore Chapter. TIC's brief came from TP's long-standing industry partner, Singapore Zoo, which was looking to increase visitorship of young adults aged 13-21 years old through the implementation of programmes, activities, events and marketing initiatives. Some 30 teams of students from 15 secondary schools and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) presented their creative proposals at the Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) and the presentation of the award winners took place on Friday, 3 June, 2016 at the Event Hall, Temasek Tourism Academy, Temasek Polytechnic.
