Press release. 02 Dec. 2014. Student entrepreneurs share the gift of design with children this holiday season

Description: Over two weekends in December, on 6 and 7, 13 and 14 December, 40 talented students, alumni and staff from Temasek Polytechnic's (TP) School of Design, in partnership with Sentosa, organised two workshops on silk-screening and card-making for children whose parents were working full-time or incarcerated in prison. The TP designers also set up shop called "Merry Makers Market" to sell unique, hand-crafted limited edition gift items that were both functional and beautiful, with some 15 stalls located at the Sentosa Boardwalk. In the spirit of inclusivity and giving during the holiday season, the children of the Fei Yue Student Care Centre and Salvation Army Prison Support Services - Kids In Play (KIP) received hand-crafted gifts from the TP design students.

Launch of Disability Awareness Week carnival

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) worked closely with the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) to further the financial independence of their members. TP students developed a business plan for them to sell an original dessert developed by TP and trained them on how to serve it. The dessert was sold by MINDS members at the launched of the Disability Awareness Week carnival on 3 December 2005 at the HDB Hub in Toa Payoh. The guest-of-honour for the event was Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports.

Press release. 19 Jan. 2011. Temasek Polytechnic's culinary students celebrate Chinese New Year with Bo Tien Welfare Society's senior citizens

Description: Twenty students from Temasek Polytechnic School of Business Diploma in Culinary & Catering Management provided a Western dining experience to 25 senior citizens from the Bo Tien Welfare homes. Mrs Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chairman of Singapore Art Museum, graced the event held on 22 Jan 2011 at Bo Tien Welfare Services Auditorium. The event brought Temasek Polytechnic, Bo Tien Welfare Services and Taman Jurong Malay Activity Executive Club (MAEC) together to bring Chinese New Year festive cheer to the senior citizens.
