Description: Twice a year, Temasek Polytechnic holds its Campus Care Network (CCN) Day, a long-held tradition where staff and students put up a campus-wide bazaar and online sale to raise funds for students in need of financial assistance.The first CCN Day for 2011 was held on 20 May. Stalls were set up at the plaza and along the Schools' concourse areas selling an assortment of items ranging from food like kebabs, sausages, buttered corn, candy floss; drinks, such as, bubble tea, to henna painting and games.

Description: Every year, Temasek Polytechnic holds its Campus Care Network (CCN) Day, a long-held tradition where staff and students put up a campus-wide bazaar and online sale to raise funds for students in need of financial assistance. The aim of this polywide event is to cultivate community spirit and bonding for staff and students. The CCN Day was held on 27 August 2004. Stalls were set up at the plaza and along the Schools' concourse areas selling an assortment of items, such as, food and drinks, desserts, flowers and plants. There were also stalls offering henna painting, portrait drawing and games.

This year, the CCN Day was held on 23 August. Stalls were set up at the plaza and along the Schools' concourse areas selling food, such as, home-made Beijing dumplings, second hand clothes and books. The highlight of the day was the Dunkin' Chair. Staff and students put down cash to have their turn at tossing the basketball at the target. TP Principal and CEO, Dr N Varaprasad was the first to be dunked into the dunking pool. Followed by the Deputy Principal, Mr Ang Keng Loo and other senior management staff of TP.

Joint admissions exercise 2012

Description: The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) 2012 was conducted at the Temasek Polytechnic from Monday 9 January to Friday 13 January 2012. The objective of the JAE was to allow students who sat for their O-level exams to apply for admission to courses in the polytechnics of their choice. TP organised the course preview talks for applicants and parents who wanted more information about the courses offered by TP. Besides the course preview talks, prospective applicants and their parents could also chat online with TP�s course advisors, or they could seek out course advisors on campus to find out more about the various courses and their eligibility before making their final decision about the polytechnic of their choice.

Campus Care Network Day, May 2012

Description: The first Campus Care Network (CCN) Day for 2012 was held on May 18 from 12 noon to 5 pm. A biannual event, the main objective of CCN Day is to help needy students in TP and provide a meaningful bonding time for Care Groups and Care Persons. Students and staff from the School of Business, School of Humanities & Social Sciences, School of Informatics & IT, and some Administrative depts participated in the fundraising for needy students. More than 140 stalls were set up at the Plaza and along the Schools' concourse selling everything and anything gloriously sweet and delicious like popcorn, cookies, cupcakes, candy floss, brownies, and smoothies, and trinkets. TP's CCA group, Divo Diva sang their hearts out for a good cause, while others capitalised on the tattoo trend among the students and still others paid for a macho image on the Ducati 800 Monster. The event was attended by Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO who was accompanied by Mr Teo Sze Cheng, Chair of the CCN Committee and senior management staff.

Tourism Innovation Competition 2012

Description: Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) is an annual competition that started in 2010. Organised by Temasek Polytechnic's School of Business and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, the competition aims to arm student participants with opportunities to learn more about the tourism industry as well as career opportunities available. Now in its third year, TIC 2012 was held from 15 June to 22 June. The theme for 2012 was "Sentosa visitor experience: a destination that is accessible to visitors with special needs". Participants had to come up with innovative solutions to provide better accessibility for special needs visitors in Sentosa. Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, TP School of Business gave the welcome address, while guest speakers included Ms Lilian Kuan, Asst Director, Sector Capability Development, Singapore Tourism Board and Ms Lim Suu Kuan, Divisional Director, Guest Experience Division, Sentosa Development Coroporation. Lecturers from the Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM)/Leisure & Resort Management (LRM) diploma courses gave detailed briefing of the theme & competition to participants. More than 201 students from 23 secondary schools and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) attended 2 workshops 'Special needs and creativity' and 'Walkabouts in Sentosa' to deepen their understanding of tourism and special needs problems. The 47 competing teams had to go through a series of consultations with industry experts to fine-tune their proposals before making their presentation to the judges. The champion of TIC 2012 was the Zest team from Zhonghua Secondary School.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic organised a scholarship briefing session for parents and students on 2 May 2012. TP's Registrar, Ms Sharon Soh Eng Khim briefed the audience on the types of scholarships available as well as the criteria and eligibility for the scholarships. The Temasek Polytechnic Scholarship is for all newly-enrolled and subsidised full-time diploma students who have good GCE O Level results (net aggregate of 10 points and below), CCA records, character, conduct, and who possess strong leadership qualities. The offer of these scholarships strongly reflects the Polytechnic's commitment to recognise deserving students for their outstanding achievements with the aim to further encourage and inspire them to excel in their academic pursuits. The award of these scholarships is made possible through TP and by the generous donations from reputable donor organisations and individuals.
