Global Community Day 2011

Description: For the first time, Temasek Polytechnic held its Global Community Day (GCD) outside the campus. It partnered National Parks Board (Nparks) to stage the event, in conjunction with the Parks Festival at the Bedok Reservoir. The highlight of the celebrations was the staging of the first ever Lighting of WaterFire in Asia. The first fire was lit by guest-of-honour, Mr Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence. Various activities were held during the two-day event which celebrated diversity and promoted inter-cultural understanding. There were participation from embassies of various countries, cultural dances and performances, photo sessions and games for the public, TP students and staff.

Parents as partners in career planning seminar

Description: The Parents as Partners in Career Planning Seminar was held on 4 October 1997. The seminar aimed to help potential applicants make informed choices for their future. Close to 1,000 parents and their teenager children attended the seminar to seek information concerning choice of courses and career prospects. Guest of Honour, Mr Charles Chong, MP for Pasir Ris GRC, gave a keynote address on "Parents' Role In Career Planning. Other speakers at the seminar included Mr Goh Ah Bee, Managing Director, Leica Instruments (S) Pte Ltd, who gave insights into the"Rising Profile of Polytechnic Education and Career Opportunities", and Mr Ang Keng Loo, Deputy Principal of Temasek Polytechnic, who spoke on "TP - Your Partner in Career Planning".

Campus Care Network Day, May 2008

Description: Twice a year, Temasek Polytechnic holds its Campus Care Network (CCN) Day, a long-held tradition where staff and students put up a campus-wide bazaar and online sale to raise funds for students in need of financial assistance. The aim of this polywide event is to cultivate community spirit and bonding for staff and students. The first CCN Day was held on 16 May, 2008. Stalls were set up at the plaza and along the Schools' concourse areas selling an assortment of items, such as food and drinks, balloons, and more. There were also stalls offering henna and nail art, and face painting as part of the activities.

Campus Care Network Day 1992

Description: In its second year of operation, the Campus Care Network (CCN) was established in August 1991, with the aim to bring lecturers and students together, to maintain a caring culture, so as to foster students' personal growth. In 1992, CCN organised food fair and jumble sale to raise funds for Temasek Polytechnic students who needed financial help. It was held from 11am to 2pm on 11 August. TP staff set-up mini make-shift stalls for the event, selling varying items, such as, apple and chicken pies, tarts, satay and desserts. Staff and students were also encouraged to donate generously, either for the jumble sale items, food or cash.

Parental guidance seminar 2012

Description: The Temasek Polytechnic Parental Guidance seminar (PGS) is an annual event specially put together to help parents understand the options that students have after their O levels. On 30 June 2012, TP hosted the seminar for more than 700 parents and students, who got to find out more about a polytechnic education, TP courses, scholarships, and further education and career opportunities. They also heard from a current student and two alumni and their parents about life in TP, and took the chance to ask questions during the Q&A session with the Registrar, Ms Sharon Soh and senior staff members from the academic schools. The visitors were also taken on a tour of the academic schools where they had the opportunity to see for themselves TP's excellent learning facilities first hand. They aslo benefited from interacting with the lecturers, which helped them understand better the courses available at TP.

Mr Edmond Khoo, Deputy Principal kicked off the Showcase with an inspiring address in which he highlighted how TP invested in its outstanding students. The highlight of the event was a tea session which allowed the potential scholars and their parents to interact with senior staff members and students to get first-hand information on what TP has to offer. The annual event was held to enable secondary school students to make an informed choice regarding their educational path after they have completed their studies. The secondary school students were given the opportunity to meet up with the lecturers from the respective schools, have a chat with them on the diploma courses offered, tour the campus and meet up with TP students to find out more about the outstanding facilities, the different options open to them and life in the campus. Apart from previews of courses run by the six schools, visitors were treated to heart-pumping performances, fashion show, exciting contests and even mouth-watering goodies.

Temasek Engineering School's TechGames workshops 2001

Description: Temasek Engineering School's TechGames workshops for secondary school students was held on 15 September 2001. The workshops were held in conjunction with Science.01, a month-long national event celebrating Science, Technology and Biomedicine in Singapore. Highlight of the workshop was the introduction of Sony Aibo, the popular robotic dog. Other workshops organised included an introduction to the Global Positioning System (GPS), a Solar Insect Design competition, an Intelligent Building Design module and Creative Physics.

Temasek Polytechnic Open House 2006, day 2

Description: The Temasek Polytechnic Open House was held from 19 to 21 January 2006. The annual event was held to enable secondary school students to make an informed choice regarding their educational path after they have completed their studies. Visitors were given the opportunity to meet up with the lecturers from the respective schools to find out more on the diploma courses offered. Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO and senior management staff took the opportunity to walk around the different schools to observe the many different activities that were organised to entice the secondary school students to join the polytechnic after their O Level results. I-Guides, a group of volunteer students, were on hand to guide visitors around the campus and brief them about the various schools and activities going on. Some of the highlights of the the 3-day Open House included a couture catwalk featuring works by Apparel Design & Merchandising students, meet & greet Singapore Idol finalists, Olinda Cho and Sylvester Sim, doodle box, Engineering project show -- "experience" 3D computer graphics and visualisation technologies, animal and fish magic, maze of colourings & flavouring, courses & CCA exhibitions, performances by TP students, and water adventures such as dragon boating, canoeing and canoe-polo held at Bedok Reservoir. The finale of the Open House was the Jam and Hop session on 21 January 2006 evening with performances by Leandra and renowned local groups.
