Description: Twenty students from Temasek Polytechnic School of Business Diploma in Culinary & Catering Management provided a Western dining experience to 25 senior citizens from the Bo Tien Welfare homes. Mrs Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chairman of Singapore Art Museum, graced the event held on 22 Jan 2011 at Bo Tien Welfare Services Auditorium. The event brought Temasek Polytechnic, Bo Tien Welfare Services and Taman Jurong Malay Activity Executive Club (MAEC) together to bring Chinese New Year festive cheer to the senior citizens.

Description: On 19 July 2021, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) launched a Smart e-Commerce Centre (SMEC) to equip students with the skills to meet the demands of borderless retail competition brought forth by the rapid growth of e-commerce. The SMEC also aims to help companies and aspiring entrepreneurs boost their digitalisation efforts through training and collaborations with the TP community and these partners. Description: Temasek Polytechnic organised the Tourism Innovation Competition 2012 for 205 students from 23 Secondary Schools and ITE Colleges. It was held from 15 to 22 June 2012. A total of 47 teams attempted to provide innovative solutions to accessibility problems for the special needs visitor in Sentosa. The special needs visitor profile included the disabled, elderly, families with young children, nursing mothers, and pregnant women. Consultation was held with TP's Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) / Leisure Resort Management (LRM) lecturers as well as staff from Singapore Tourism Board and Sentosa Development Corporation to fine-tune proposals on their assigned areas. The participants set up 47 on-site displays for the judges to view. The top 3 teams presented their proposals to the judges and their peers on 22 June 2012. Teo Wei Xuan, Cedar Girls Secondary School and Florentino Gem Paula Villar, from Yishun Town Secondary School gave comments on their proposals.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) has collaborated with Harbin Institute of Technology Robot Group (HRG), one of China's leading robot manufacturers, in the setting up of the TP-HRG Robotics Innovation Centre. The launch of the TP-HRG Robotics Innovation Centre follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2018, where TP and HRG would cooperate in research & development, training, as well as the designing, delivering, test-bedding and integrating of solutions in relevant technologies in support of industry players. This includes small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore and around the region.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) through the Centre for Ageing Studies and School for Humanities & Social Sciences held its inaugural Seniors' Week on 19 & 20 October 2016 and the inaugural EngAGE Symposium 2016 on 21 October 2016. Under the theme, "Transforming ageing: enrich, engage, empower", the different schools and departments in TP collaborated and organised 19 activities and workshops. Some interesting highlights were Mindfulness practices for a better you and Fitness & exercise for older adults. The launch of TP's Seniors' Week 2016 was marked by Conductorcise, an exhilarating new "fitness fusion" sound workout for mind, body and soul. Prof Alfred Chan, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission Hong Kong, was the keynote speaker at the inaugural symposium.

Description: With the telecom boom and healthy growth in the smartphone market in 2011, many graduating students from Temasek Polytechnic's Diploma of Business IT chose to design and develop applications for the mobile platform. Highlights of the show were "MP14: Pinyin Island iPhone Game" targeted at audience of kids aged 5-12 to make learning Mandarin fun, "MP15: My Heartland Singapore Web Portal" developed for Crystal Horizon Pte Ltd. and aimed to promote awareness of events in heartland malls, "MP17: World Gourmet Summit iPhone App" an iPhone app for Peter Knipp Holding's World Gourmet Summit and "MP19: LifeAtEvent Android App" a mobile app that allowed users to share attractions through photos, and which was one of the recipients of the prestigious 2011 Explorer Grant award. The Course Manager, Benedict Fernandez shared that students were free to choose what they want to work on and who they work with. Among the graduating students who participated in the projects were Darren Teo Wei Jie and Alvin Hoe. MeetingYoungMinds@BIT 2012 was held on 23 February 2012.

Description: TP students created a Virtual Classroom App for Preschoolers which provided a full curriculum of services such as interactive lessons through games where children can see 3D objects in front of them. Real-time multiplayer games encourage teamwork and promote social skill development, and a point reward system can be exchanged for pets for a quicker assimilation of the subject being taught. The app was one of the 25 final-year projects developed by the graduating students of TP's Business Information Technology (BIT) course. The public can viewed these projects on 21 February 2018 at Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show held at Temasek Polytechnic Main Foyer and Auditorium.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and Lufthansa Technical Training GmbH (LTT) signed an agreement on Tuesday, 19 February 2013 to extend their partnership for another 5 years. With this partnership both parties continued to make improvements to the training programmes for professionals in the growing aviation industry in Singapore and the region. Mr Ong Yong Ming, winner of the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Award 2010, credited his training at the TP-LTT Centre for his achievements. Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show was held on Wednesday, 22 February 2017. Some 30 final-year projects developed by the graduating students of TP's Business Information Technology (BIT) course were on show to the public. One of the projects showcased was FALL-D -- a fall-detecting monitoring system that used a combination of motion detection, motion acceleration and voice recognition devices to trigger alerts to the caregiver via mobile application, if an emergency was suspected. Other student projects included the following: Enabling healthier meal choices from food photos and Facilities incident report system (FIRS) -- discussions were initiated with TP's Estates and Facilities Management Department to test-bed the system within campus. Also present were representatives from industry partners like FOMO Pay Private Ltd and Onelyst. Co-founder and CEO of Onelyst, Hizam Ismail, is a BIT alumnus and a graduate from TP in 2010.

Description: The Graduate Employment Survey (GES), jointly conducted by the five polytechnics in 2017, showed that polytechnic graduates continue to be in demand in the job market. The overall employment rate six months after graduation was at 87.3% (86.4% for fresh graduates, and 89.8% for post-NS graduates). Although there was a decline from 2016, employment rate remains healthy. The decline is partly due to year-on-year changes in labour market and economic conditions, and preferences of students upon graduation.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic would be offering over 300 places in early childhood courses at the inaugural Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) commencing 22 June 2016. Instead of the usual one-to-one interviews with a panel of lecturers, students invited to interviews at the polytechnics would be assessed through their participation in group interviews as well as interesting activities, to gauge their aptitude and passion for working with children.The three full-time early childhood education diploma courses offered by the two polytechnics were the Diploma in Early Childhood Education (NP), Diploma in Child Psychology & Early Education (NP) and Diploma in Early Childhood Studies (TP). Mr Clarence Ti, Principal of Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Mr Ang Teck Hua, Director of TP's Centre for Child Study shared their views on the prerequisites needed to gain priority admission to courses in this field.

Description: TP InfoTech Day 2018 is an annual showcase of innovative projects by the final year students of the Temasek Polytechnic School of Informatics & IT. This year’s theme was “Digital Innovation and Transformation – Start Small, Think Big” and the projects were divided into three sub-themes: Future of Tech & FinTech, Growth & Opportunities in AI and Analytics and Next-Gen Security Evolution. The event showcased 30 projects developed by graduating students, some of which were done in collaboration with industry partners and various government agencies. The project show took place on Tuesday, 20 March 2018 at the Polytechnic Foyer, and was opened to the public. A seminar with talks by IT professionals took place concurrently at Auditorium 2 of the polytechnic.

Description: Aerospace students from Temasek Polytechnic (TP), led by Aerospace lecturer Mr Matthias Christian, won top prizes in the recent Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competitions 2012 which was organised by DSO National Laboratories and the Singapore Science Centre, and held from 15-17 March 2012. TP took home 5 Gold, 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals, as well as the "Best Team Spirit" award at the competition. Team HawxVision won the Best Performance Award (Gold) and the Champions Award (Gold) in the Semi-autonomous category. Team Red Lunar won the Most Creative Award (Gold) and also Best Video Award (Gold) in the Semi-autonomous category. Team Prime won the Best Performance Award (Silver), Best Video Award (Bronze) and Champions Award (Bronze) in the Unconventional (Open) category. Team Spirit won the Most Creative Award (Silver) and Best Presentation Award (Gold) in the same category.

The Design Show was held from 9 - 12 March 2018. Design Show 2018 also saw the launch of the inaugural Sustainability Awards. The top three projects that addressed bigger issues of the world through their designs such as reducing poverty, resolving hunger and responsible consumption, would each receive a $1,000 prize.

Description: The Senior Minister of State, Mr Lawrence Wong, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts and Ministry of Education was the guest-of-honour at the closing ceremony of Polytechnic Forum 2012 which was held on Friday, 21 September 2012 at the Temasek Convention Centre, Temasek Polytechnic. Some 300 student representatives from the five polytechnics who spent the last four days in intensive discussions at a residential programme in Desaru, Malaysia, put forward their recommendations to the Senior Minister in an open dialogue session. Since its launch in 1996, the Polytechnic Forum serves as a platform for polytechnic students to discuss and exchange their views on key national and global issues. The forum also advocates active youth citizenry and nurtures inspired and committed youth with strong convictions about their roles in the community.

The recipients of the awards were: Lee Kuan Yew Award - Viyshnatulasiy Manivannen, Ng Yong Jie, Teo Zhi Jie and Soh Woon Hao Kenneth; Tay Eng Soon Gold Medal - Josiah Tham; Lee Kong Chian Award - Chan Ming Jie Cerlynn, Soh Yan Kang Ian and Keisia Dominique Lim-Urquhart; CapitaLand Award for All-Round Excellence - Chew Ming En Lucas and Muhammad Juraimi B Rafinyi. The Ngee Ann Kongsi Most Outstanding Overcomer Award was given to Alina Seow Gek Ting who was diagnosed with diplegic cerebral palsy which affected both her legs.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP), which housed the only accredited Glycemic Index (GI) Research Unit in the region, has launched two new part-time courses on nutrition targeted at individuals who are keen to equip themselves with knowledge of basic nutrition and diabetes. Both courses are supported and subsidised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). The two new courses on nutrition are "The nutrition therapy for the prevention and management of diabetes" and "The nutrition for optimum health". Both courses, run quarterly, are conducted by a team of experts from TP, led by Dr Kalpana Bhaskaran, who is Domain Lead of Applied Nutrition & Glycemic Index Research at TP's School of Applied Science. TP also collaborated with food manufacturing company, Faesol Pte. Ltd. to create a low GI multigrain drink - iLite GrainsPlus which is available in all NTUC FairPrice outlets.
