Description: School of Engineering organised a float competition as part of the Freshmen Orientation 1998. Freshmen were given 2 days to design and fabricate their floats based on the themes, "Singapore My Home" or "Technology 2000". They were given only a one-metre wooden pole and a ball of raffia string to start with. Students demonstrated their resourcefulness and creativity by using mainly recycled materials or discarded items to build their floats.

Description: The annual Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC) is a non-compulsory orientation programme organised by the Temasek Polytechnic Students' Union (TPSU) for full-time students. Freshmen may choose between a 3-day non-residential camp or a 3-day, 2-night residential camp. The orientation camp was held over two weeks, from 9 - 20 Apr, with varying dates and duration across the Schools. The activities planned during the 2-week orientation, including the Week-Zero camp, allowed students to familiarise themselves with their School environment and provided ample opportunities to make new friends, network among peers, and experience the vibrant TP campus life.

Freshmen Orientation Grand Finale 2000

Description: The highlight of TP's Week Zero Orientation Camp 2000 was the traditional "Final Clash", which would see students from the four Schools competing against each other in the telematch and cheerleading competition. Temasek Engineering School emerged as the winner for this year. Over 4000 freshmen sold cute little teddy bears by Sasha Bear Company at various locations around Singapore to raise funds for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), National Kidney Foundation's Children's Kidney Transplant Centre, and TP's Campus Care Network. BG George Yeo, Minister for Trade and Industry, was the Guest-of-Honour for the orientation finale held at the Triangular Garden on 30 June 2000. Five confetti canons were fired, and two students abseiled down from the sixth-storey corridor accompanied by fireworks to welcome him.

Freshmen Orientation Programme 2023

Description: After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Freshmen Orientation Programme (FOP) activities returned in full physical form in April 2023. Organized by the Student Development & Alumni Affairs (SDAA), the FOP plays a crucial role in helping freshmen to adapt to the new school environment through various activities and programmes. Human Wheelbarrow Challenge at TP

Description: Temasek Polytechnic set a new Guinness World Record for the largest human wheelbarrow race. A total of 1,378 participants joined the event held on 24 Apr 2009 at the Sports Complex. This defeated the previous record of 1,044 participants set by the Carey Baptist Grammar School of Melbourne on 9 Sep 2008. At the same event, the Polytechnic also made it into the Singapore Book of Records, by setting 4 records for the fastest human wheelbarrow race, fastest human wheelbarrow relay, the longest human wheelbarrow chain, and the longest human wheelbarrow endurance. This event marked the end of freshmen orientation and the beginning of the new academic year. Besides welcoming the freshmen into the TP family, the event also aimed to further strengthen the TP camaraderie.

Inaugural Temasek Regatta

Description: The inaugural Temasek Regatta or Dragon Boat Competition was held on 20 May 2005 at the Bedok Reservoir. It was also the grand finale of the Week Zero Orientation. About 15 secondary schools signed up to compete in the invitational schools' competition in the morning, while TP staff and students competed in the late afternoon. Recycling and Temasek Polytechnic

Description: The Polytechnic's Temasek Green Nature Club organised its first seminar entitled "Recycling and Temasek Polytechnic" to promote "green" consciousness as part of the Orientation programme on 29 June 1992. Description: Temasek Business School freshmen orientation was held on 15 April 2010 at the Temasek Convention Centre. Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, Temasek Business School addressed the freshmen, followed by performances from the Salvo Drums and Dance Ensemble and the singing of TP anthem by freshmen and staff. To bond the freshmen at school level, everyone including the Business School lecturers gathered at Temasek Polytechnic Sports Complex and with much creativity and teamwork, successfully formed the numeral "20" to commemorate TP's 20th anniversary.

Temasek Olympiad 2015 : Freshmen Orientation Finale

Students from the six schools gathered on the final day of the Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC) to compete against each other in activities such as telematch, games and dances. Description: Temasek Regatta 2006 kicked off on April 21, 2006 with secondary school students, TP students, and staff gathering at the Bedok Reservoir for a battle on the water. The regatta was the grand finale of the Temasek Polytechnic freshmen orientation 2006. For the second year running, numerous secondary schools were invited to compete against one another in the dragon boat competition as part of TP's outreach programme. After an intense fight, CHIJ Katong Convent finished first in the Women's Finals, while Mayflower and Evergreen Secondary Schools came in second and third, respectively. In the Men's Finals, Victoria School emerged champion, while Bukit Panjang and Chung Cheng High (Yishun) finished runners-up and second runners-up, respectively. In the afternoon, staff and students, led by Principal & CEO Mr Boo Kheng Hua, took to the water to compete in the inter-school dragon boat races and friendship races.
