On 6 July 1998, a Guinness world record was set when 438 Temasek Polytechnic students squeezed into a Trans-Island (Tibs) bendy bus. The record-breaking event was a grand finale to a week-long orientation programme. Tibs bought a bandanna at $5 for every student that squeezed into the bus. Proceeds from the Bandanna sale went to four Singapore welfare organisations - Singapore Association for the Deaf, the Handicap Welfare Association, the Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped and the Spastic Children's Association of Singapore.
