Press release. 05 Jan. 2017. Temasek Polytechnic and NTUC Foodfare create healthier, low GI meals for the community

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and NTUC Foodfare signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the "War on diabetes" to develop healthier meal options that would benefit the masses through NTUC Social Enterprises' reach of dining, supermarket, eldercare and early childhood education chains. A series of healthier choice, low Glycemic Index (GI) halal meals, created by TP's School of Applied Science were made available at NTUC Foodfare's newly opened dining space, Kitchen Loft. TP also created six varieties of low GI ready-to-eat frozen pizzas that were included in NTUC FairPrice's house brand range of products. The new product range had been tested at the region's only accredited GI Research Unit housed at TP and was expected to be made available at NTUC FairPrice stores from April 2017. Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) attended the unveiling of the Low GI meals, and also witnessed the MOU signing between TP and NTUC Foodfare.
