Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) announced details of Singapore's first full-time and part-time courses on Big Data in a press conference on Wednesday, 8 October, 2014. The 2 courses launched were the full-time Diploma in Big Data Management & Governance and the part-time Specialist Diploma in Big Data Management. As Singapore pushed towards becoming the world's first smart nation, one that is able to use technology to enhance transport, healthcare and other public services, data engineers, data scientists and data analytics professionals would be needed by businesses, government and ICT companies to leverage exponential data growth for productivity, competitiveness and growth. In the light of this, there was a need to train students to acquire relevant skills that would prepare them for the workplace.
