The uScan thermometer

Date: 2011

Content Type: Still Image

Description: The thermometer developed by Temasek Polytechnic has undergone various design revamps. It started off with Temperature Badge which was created in 2003 during the SARS outbreak. In 2009, the Temperature Badge was replaced by iCOOL. In 2011, through industrial collaboration, the iCOOL was licensed to and aesthetically re-designed and manufactured by OSIM. It was sold under the name uScan. The latest version incorporated earlier features including measuring and displaying one’s temperature which would take about 40 seconds, and a LED panel which would indicate whether the wearer is fever-free. The LED status would remain for 4 hours, before the user is prompted to measure their temperature again. Users can also reviewed their past temperature records (up to 10 readings). The thermometer was again put in good use when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in late 2019.
