Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Engineering Project Show was held on 10 & 11 January 2014 at the Temasek Convention Centre. Some 75 projects by final-year Engineering students were on display at the show. The following 4 projects were among the 75 projects showcased, namely an Automated hearing test system on android platform; Reusable microchips to read blood glucose levels in diabetic patients; an Improved training programme for Air India SATS such that the airports in the Indian states of Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore, Hyderabad and Trivanderum had adopted it; and Elderly-friendly stove indicator.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) students from the School of Design together with People's Association, DBS Bank and Bloomberg competed in a "live" installation showcase of innovative, purposeful and sustainable solutions to benefit the community. Called the Collaborative Design Challenge @ ARCHIFEST 2016, the show was held on Friday, 30 September 2016, between 12 noon-1.30pm at Pavilion@Raffles Place Park, Raffles Place. Students from TP's Diploma in Interior Architecture & Design have over the past four weeks, formed teams with end users, designers and manufacturers to identify a need or problem, then design and build a functional installation that added value to people's lives using only recycled materials. Among the challenge projects showcased were: "Giving" tree -- made from recycled material, the tree could be easily replicated and set up in community centres where members of the public could pen down their gift of kindness ; Trolley to help the elderly cardboard collectors; DIY solution to tackle discomfort in the workplace. The challenge concluded with a 30-minute assemblage of the pre-fabricated design elements on site at ARCHIFEST 2016.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and DDB Worldwide signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 28 October 2016 to set up a satellite office of Equator to groom the next generation of creative technologists in Singapore. Equator is DDB Worldwide's first-ever global centre of excellence for technology and innovation to pioneer digital transformation marketing solutions. A diverse pool of students from the School of Informatics & IT, School of Design, School of Engineering and School of Business would serve their internships at the on-campus agency. Ms Low Yen Ling, Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Education & Ministry of Trade and Industry, witnessed the signing of the MOU by Mr Peter Lam, Principal & CEO, Temasek Polytechnic and David Tang, CEO of DDB Asia. The first project co-created with TP student was a community project called the Personal Response for Emergency Situations (P.R.E.S.) -- a mobile application that allows users to send one-touch distress signals to their loved ones and relevant authorities, alerting them to possible emergencies such as a terrorist attack or a disaster.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Centre for Applied Gerontology, the Diploma in Gerontological Management Studies and the School of Humanities & Social Sciences organised an ageing symposium themed, "Towards successful ageing" on 22 August 2017. The symposium took a holistic approach covering the physical (exercise), cognitive (brain training), and socio-emotional (mindfulness) dimensions, through having a select panel of distinguished experts in their respective fields. The aim was to stimulate dialogue on the pressing concern for the likely increase in cognitive problems faced by our rapidly ageing population. The symposium also saw the launch of MindWorks, a brain training app that contained a set of six games designed for older adults that target memory, attention, logic, and arithmetic calculation, by TP's Principal & CEO, Mr Peter Lam and Prof. Ryuta Kawashima, Director of the Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer (IDAC), Tohoku University. Keynote speakers included Prof. Ryuta Kawashima and Prof. Linda Lam. Other presenters at the Ageing Symposium 2017 were Prof. Kua Ee Heok, Dr. Grace Lee, Asst Prof. Julian Lim, Mr Sam Sim Kim Yang, Ms. Ee Sharifah Rose and Dr. Philip Yap Lin Kiat.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic played host to more than 900 secondary school students at the 12th annual Engineering & Science Discovery event on Wednesday, 14 October, 2015, at the Temasek Convention Centre. Jointly organised by Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic, the annual event for secondary school students was designed to introduce them to engineering in a simple, engaging way. On display was an exhibit by Singapore Science Centre, some interactive science models developed by the polytechnics and a video presentation by IN.Genius on space exploration attempts to put a Singaporean into space that year. Mr Seto Lok Yin, Chairman, Steering Committee for Learning Engineering at Polytechnics (LEAP) delivered the welcome address. Two guest speakers delivered their keynote addresses, "Innovation is a journey - not an idea" by Mr. Lim Seng, Founder, IN.Genius and "Fascinating physics in engineering" by Associate Professor Dr. Janchai Yingprayroon, Deputy Director for Academic Services and Research, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Bangkok. To bring home the fun in Engineering, Mr Tan Jui Kuan, performed a magic show "Discovering engineering with magic!".

Description: Temasek Polytechnic, in collaboration with A*STAR's Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Microsoft and MediaTek, organised an "Internet of Things (IoT) Hackathon" to focus on preparing future working adults in the growth area of IoT. The Hackathon took place at Temasek Polytechnic's School of Informatics & IT on 26 & 27 November 2015. Approximately 50 TP students participated in this event to develop prototype IoT solutions within two days, using the Microsoft Azure IoT Open Source Platform, MediaTek LinkIt One platform, together with Engineering System expertise provided by I2R. Description: Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Law and Ministry of Education, officiated at the opening session of Temasek Polytechnic's 25th Graduation Ceremony on Monday, 18 May 2015 at the Temasek Convention Centre. A total of 5437 students graduated from 54 full-time diploma courses and 16 part-time courses. The graduation ceremonies spanned over 14 sessions from 18 May - 22 May 2015. 2015 also saw the first cohort of 40 graduands from the Diploma in Business Intelligence & Analytics receiving their diplomas on Day 3 of TP's Graduation. Ms Indranee Rajah presented the poly level awards to the top graduates and also addressed the graduates from the full-time Diplomas in Aerospace Electronics and Aerospace Engineering at the opening session.

Description: Aerospace students from Temasek Polytechnic (TP), led by Aerospace lecturer Mr Matthias Christian, won top prizes in the recent Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competitions 2012 which was organised by DSO National Laboratories and the Singapore Science Centre, and held from 15-17 March 2012. TP took home 5 Gold, 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals, as well as the "Best Team Spirit" award at the competition. Team HawxVision won the Best Performance Award (Gold) and the Champions Award (Gold) in the Semi-autonomous category. Team Red Lunar won the Most Creative Award (Gold) and also Best Video Award (Gold) in the Semi-autonomous category. Team Prime won the Best Performance Award (Silver), Best Video Award (Bronze) and Champions Award (Bronze) in the Unconventional (Open) category. Team Spirit won the Most Creative Award (Silver) and Best Presentation Award (Gold) in the same category.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Design Show 2015 was held from 9 to 11 April 2015 at the Temasek Polytechnic Auditorium Foyer. Among the 423 projects showcased from the graduating class of Temasek Polytechnic (TP) School of Design were: Needle-free blood glucose monitoring - a device, worn like a wristwatch that could scan and detect blood glucose levels, by Product & Industrial Design student Eddy Iswandi Yap; Building on the Garden City vision -- Environment Design students Dionne Lim proposal to re-green the densely populated Jurong Lake region and turn the Japanese Garden into an eco-haven for migratory birds while Zhao Qiuyu's idea was to reinvent the Japanese Garden into a museum for contemporary fine art that doubled up as a rainwater collection and purification zone; and Living and community spaces for migrant workers - Interior Architecture & Design student Claudia Lim's proposal was to create a modular, stackable housing system that can be fitted into a shop house alley in Singapore. The focus of the Design Show 2015 was to showcase innovative, purposeful ideas to drive change and benefit community.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) launched its cashless campus initiative in November 2017, with about 15,000 staff and students making e-payment transactions at its bi-annual charity fund-raising event, Campus Care Network (CCN) Day held on Friday, 17 November 2017. This CCN Day made history as TP collaborated with DBS Paylah! to enable more than 100 stalls to be supported with e-payment. Staff and students used the PayLah! app to scan the QR code at each stall and transferred the amount to the stall's e-wallet. On 3 November, TP launched its first cashless enabled canteen at the TP School of Design where all stalls had been equipped for e-payment with cards from NETS ATM, NETS Flashpay, OCBC PayAnyone, UOB Mighty as well as DBS Paylah! By the close of 2017, four other campus canteens, food courts and cafes were e-payment equipped

The programme is funded by TF with a grant of about S$223,000 and involved the staff and students of TP's School of Applied Science in imparting knowledge in the areas of nutrition, food hygiene and safety practices to 150 programme participants. Mrs Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chairman of Singapore Art Museum, graced the event held on 22 Jan 2011 at Bo Tien Welfare Services Auditorium. The event brought Temasek Polytechnic, Bo Tien Welfare Services and Taman Jurong Malay Activity Executive Club (MAEC) together to bring Chinese New Year festive cheer to the senior citizens.

Press release. 09 Jan. 2014. Temasek Polytechnic to plug Singapore's dearth in cyber security experts with set up of 2 security operations centres to train students'

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) set up two "Security Operations Centres" on campus to monitor traffic and security in cyberspace while also acting as a learning enterprise for its students. The centres were a result of MOUs signed with IBM and RSA, Security Division of EMC. Students from the Diplomas in Cyber & Digital Security and Digital Forensics interned at the Security Operations Centres to gain hands-on experience in analysing security threats. Description: The Tourism Innovation Competition (TIC) was held from 10 -17 June 2014. Some 29 teams of students from 13 secondary schools and the ITE presented their creative proposals reinforcing and reinventing sustainable approaches to hospitality operations, specifically in the hotel sector. The theme for the competition was "Sustainability and the hotel sector" and the winners were announced on Tuesday, 17 June, 2014 at Auditorium 1, Temasek Polytechnic. TIC is an annual competition which started in 2010. It was organised by Temasek Polytechnic's School of Business (Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management, and Diploma in Leisure & Resort Management) and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board.

Press release. 10 Jan. 2017. Over 90% of polytechnic graduates employed within six months in 2016, higher than in 2015

Description: The Graduate Employment Survey, jointly conducted by the five polytechnics in 2016, showed that the overall employment rate increased for both fresh graduates and post-National Service (NS) graduates compared to 2015. The overall employment rate in 2016 was 90.6% for fresh graduates, and 95.4% for post-NS graduates. Among the full-time permanently employed respondents, both fresh graduates and post-NS graduates from the Health Sciences category earned the highest median gross monthly salary compared to their peers.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and NTUC Foodfare signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the "War on diabetes" to develop healthier meal options that would benefit the masses through NTUC Social Enterprises' reach of dining, supermarket, eldercare and early childhood education chains. A series of healthier choice, low Glycemic Index (GI) halal meals, created by TP's School of Applied Science were made available at NTUC Foodfare's newly opened dining space, Kitchen Loft. TP also created six varieties of low GI ready-to-eat frozen pizzas that were included in NTUC FairPrice's house brand range of products. The new product range had been tested at the region's only accredited GI Research Unit housed at TP and was expected to be made available at NTUC FairPrice stores from April 2017. Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) attended the unveiling of the Low GI meals, and also witnessed the MOU signing between TP and NTUC Foodfare. Dr Lee Chee Wee, Director, School of Applied Science at TP and Mr Perry Ong, CEO at NTUC Foodfare signed the MOU on 5 January 2017.
