The course, a collaboration between the National Environment Agency (NEA) and TP, was intended to equip chiller technicians in the refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) industry with essential knowledge and skills to handle refrigerants correctly during the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning works on water-cooled chillers.

Press release. 6 July 2021. Aquaculture Innovation Centre in Temasek Polytechnic, Blue Aqua and SAS to develop Smart Aquaculture Solution for fish and shrimp farming in Singapore

Description: SAS, a leader in analytics, announced its partnership with Aquaculture Innovation Centre (AIC) in Temasek Polytechnic and international aquaculture consultancy and farmer Blue Aqua International to develop a Smart Aquaculture Solution to boost local production of fish and shrimp. The partnership will create a collaborative ecosystem among the three parties to support the local aquaculture industry in Singapore through the development of a smart aquaculture solution for farmers. The AI-driven solution will include a mobile app that is powered by the SAS Viya platform. This will enable farmers to gain insights on critical parameters in aquaculture such as water quality, feed management and animal health through real-time data analytics technology.

Description: Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education, officiated the launch of Temasek Polytechnics (TP) Advanced Manufacturing Centre (TP AMC), on 18 June 2021. The TP AMC, the first such facility in an Institute of Higher Learning, is a fully integrated end-to-end manufacturing facility that features a "live" AI-enabled manufacturing line, capable of high-mix low-volume production. It also included a smart warehouse that has an automated storage and order picking system, and a nerve centre that provides real-time analysis and optimisation using data analytics. A Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) was also signed at the launch event between TP and Industry Partners Network which comprised key industry partners and trade associations such as OMRON Electronics, Fujitsu Singapore, Arcstone Pte Ltd, M8M Pte Ltd, PDS Pte Ltd and Swisslog as well as the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) and Singapore Precision Engineering & Technology Association (SPETA). The five polytechnics also signed MOUs with the Advanced Manufacturing Training Academy (AMTA) at the event to deepen the polytechnics collective commitment to training and capability development in this field.

Description: Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Second Minister for the Ministry of Education, officiated at the opening session of Temasek Polytechnic's Graduation Ceremony on Monday, 3 May 2021 at the Temasek Convention Centre. A total of 6,203 students graduated from 47 full-time diploma courses and 42 part-time courses. The graduation ceremonies spanned over 35 sessions from 3 to 11 May 2021. The sessions were also livestreamed so that family and friends could be part of the celebration. Dr Maliki presented the polytechnic-level awards to the top graduates and also addressed the graduates from the full-time Diplomas in Big Data Management & Governance, Cyber & Digital Security and Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics at the opening session. Mr Lee Kok Choy, Chairman, TP’s Board of Governors, presented the Skills Mastery Award which recognised students who have demonstrated strong mastery of course-specific skills through their achievements in competitions. A total of 13 Skills Mastery Awards were given out this year.

The recipients of the awards were: Lee Kuan Yew Award - Viyshnatulasiy Manivannen, Ng Yong Jie, Teo Zhi Jie and Soh Woon Hao Kenneth; Tay Eng Soon Gold Medal - Josiah Tham; Lee Kong Chian Award - Chan Ming Jie Cerlynn, Soh Yan Kang Ian and Keisia Dominique Lim-Urquhart; CapitaLand Award for All-Round Excellence - Chew Ming En Lucas and Muhammad Juraimi B Rafinyi. The Ngee Ann Kongsi Most Outstanding Overcomer Award was given to Alina Seow Gek Ting who was diagnosed with diplegic cerebral palsy which affected both her legs.
