The School of Design was also involved in the aesthetics design. The iCOOL was put to good use during the influenza A(H1N1) outbreak in 2009. It can store up to 10 readings and reminds the wearer to take a temperature reading at regular intervals. Coloured flashing lights indicate the presence of a fever.
