Description: Assistive Technology Library @ TP was launched on 13 November 2018 in the TP Library. The set-up was a result of a collaboration between Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and SPD, with support from Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA). Temasek Polytechnic students with special educational needs (SEN) would be able to test and try out various Assistive Technology (AT) devices onsite. They would also be able to loan them out on a short-term basis before purchasing them, or when their own devices require maintenance. The event also witnessed the signing of an MOU by TP's Principal & CEO, Mr Peter Lam and Mr Abhimanyau Pal, Executive Director, SPD.

Description: The inaugural Joint Poly-ITE Tourism Career Fair 2018 was launched on 31 October 2018 by Temasek Polytechnic (TP), which leads the Tourism Sector-Co-ordination team (SCT). The event, Tourism Transformation, raised tourism job profiles and encouraged students to pursue tourism sector careers, as well as served as a platform for tourism partners to showcase career progression pathways and engage potential talents. The Skills Framework for Tourism was also unveiled to support the manpower strategies, highlighting pivotal jobs and critical skills needed in the Tourism sector. It provides information on the sector, career pathways, identifies 109 existing and emerging skills and competencies across 69 occupations/job roles, as well as training programmes which support the development of these skills.

Description: The Graduate Employment Survey (GES), jointly conducted by the five polytechnics in 2017, showed that polytechnic graduates continue to be in demand in the job market. The overall employment rate six months after graduation was at 87.3% (86.4% for fresh graduates, and 89.8% for post-NS graduates). Although there was a decline from 2016, employment rate remains healthy. The decline is partly due to year-on-year changes in labour market and economic conditions, and preferences of students upon graduation.

"sAme SamE And differeNt"" was a line that perfectly encapsulated the similarities and yet unique differences amongst the ASEAN nations, which was also why it made an ideal theme for TP's signature Global Community Day 2018. The event commemorated Singapore's ASEAN Chairmanship during this review year and saw an estimated 1,000 participants from the five polytechnics, secondary schools, ASEAN nations, embassies and industries enjoying and participating in the vibrant festivities.

The Lee Kuan Yew Award 2018

Description: The Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science for polytechnics is awarded to the top technology or computer science graduates in each of the polytechnics. This Award is funded by an honorarium that the late founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew received from various speaking engagements and funds raised from a special edition of his memoirs. The Award was first presented at the 1993 Temasek Polytechnic graduation ceremony. The award recipients in 2018 were: Alvin Tay Ming Hwee (School of Applied Science), Crystal Sing (School of Engineering) and Solomon Tan Teng Shue (School of Informatics & IT).

We Draw Amaravati Together : An exhibition by Urban Sketchers Singapore

Description: "We Draw Amaravati Together" is a project involving sketchers from the Urban Sketchers Singapore and parts of India. In collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic, and supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore) as well as Amaravati Partnership Office, the artists visited villages in Amaravati, India, to capture images that showcased its culture and landscapes before its impending urbanization. The exhibition was held at the Glocal Connect Village from 16 April to 20 June 2018 and the guest of honor was Mr Khoo Teng Chye, executive director of Centre for Liveable Cities.
