Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Engineering Project Show was held on Friday 9 January 2015 at the Temasek Convention Centre. Some 80 final-year projects were showcased. Among them were: an anti-riot shield with a miniature wireless camera and LED strobe lights to capture video footage of the goings-on in front of the shield, and monitored remotely and real-time at a police command centre; an enhanced ground operations safety manual that is on par with international standards; a device to deter cash card thefts from a car's In-Vehicle Unit; a remote controlled drone to save a drowning person at sea.

TP's 4th musical was held from 4-7 November 2015 at Auditorium 1, Temasek Polytechnic. Sonny Lim was the artistic director and the show was co-produced with local playwright, director and actress Aidli Mosbit. Among the talented cast was 2014 Project Superstar female category winner, Abigail Yeo, who took on the lead role of Xena.

Description: In its continuing effort to promote lifelong learning, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) would offer its alumni over 100 courses as part of the SkillsFuture Series to support working adults with industry-relevant training, making it the first polytechnic to offer free training places to its alumni. This would take place from January 2018 and some 1,500 TP graduates would have an opportunity to benefit from one free SkillsFuture Series course. Temasek Polyrechnic co-leads the cybersecurity area under the SkillsFuture Series, and would progressively roll out more courses to support the training needs of working adults. These courses are tiered across three proficiency levels to cater to Singaporeans at different stages of learning -- basic, intermediate and advance.

Description: The 15th Polytechnic Student Research Programme (PSRP) award presentation ceremony was held on Thursday, 8 March 2012 at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. A total of 80 final-year PSRP projects were undertaken by the five polytechnics and the team with the best PSRP project from each polytechnic received a cash award at the ceremony. Prof Jackie Y. Ying, the Executive Director at A*STAR Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology was the guest-of-honour. The winning projects from Temasek Polytechic were "Isolation of circulating tumour cells using a novel microsieve cartridge" and "Realising Internet of things (IoT) through service oriented dynamic sensor network". Description: The joint polytechnic press release on higher pay for poly grads in 2011 was released on 6 February 2012. It revealed the findings of the Graduate employment survey conducted between October and November 2011 by the five polytechnics. This annual Graduate employment survey was jointly conducted by Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic to ascertain the employment status of polytechnic graduates. The results of the survey showed that polytechnic graduates were in great demand by employers and earned more with higher remuneration, compared to the previous year.

Description: Menlo Worldwide Logistics (Menlo) and Temasek Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 27 June 2013 to establish a new scholarship programme for students pursuing careers in logistics and supply chain management. Under the programme, Menlo established four annual scholarships of S$2,500 each. These scholarships were awarded to selected students in their third and final year of study pursuing the Diploma in Operations and Logistics Managementat at TP's School of Business. Description: Over two weekends in December, on 6 and 7, 13 and 14 December, 40 talented students, alumni and staff from Temasek Polytechnic's (TP) School of Design, in partnership with Sentosa, organised two workshops on silk-screening and card-making for children whose parents were working full-time or incarcerated in prison. The TP designers also set up shop called "Merry Makers Market" to sell unique, hand-crafted limited edition gift items that were both functional and beautiful, with some 15 stalls located at the Sentosa Boardwalk. In the spirit of inclusivity and giving during the holiday season, the children of the Fei Yue Student Care Centre and Salvation Army Prison Support Services - Kids In Play (KIP) received hand-crafted gifts from the TP design students.

Description: The official launch of Temasek Polytechnic's 25th anniversary celebrations by Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Mr Goh Chok Tong was held on Wednesday, 29 April 2015 at 10am at Auditorium 1. TP was established in 1990 with five satellite campuses, and became a beautiful 30-hectare campus by the scenic Bedok Reservoir in 1995. The year long celebrations included events like the TP 25 hour challenge in May, an International Conference on Learning & Teaching in October and a home-grown musical "Crunch time" in November. Apart from launching TP's 25th anniversary microsite, ESM Mr Goh was presented with a copy of TP's 25th anniversary commemorative book, "From silver to gold".

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show was held on Wednesday, 22 February 2017. Some 30 final-year projects developed by the graduating students of TP's Business Information Technology (BIT) course were on show to the public. One of the projects showcased was FALL-D -- a fall-detecting monitoring system that used a combination of motion detection, motion acceleration and voice recognition devices to trigger alerts to the caregiver via mobile application, if an emergency was suspected. Other student projects included the following: Enabling healthier meal choices from food photos and Facilities incident report system (FIRS) -- discussions were initiated with TP's Estates and Facilities Management Department to test-bed the system within campus. Also present were representatives from industry partners like FOMO Pay Private Ltd and Onelyst. Co-founder and CEO of Onelyst, Hizam Ismail, is a BIT alumnus and a graduate from TP in 2010.

Description: From a poly-wide student competition entitled "Light beyond illumination: the smart campus edition", resulting from a partnership between Temasek Polytechnic and Philips Lighting, two teams of students from Temasek Polytechnic's Diploma in Integrated Facility Management and the Diploma in Infocomm & Network Engineering emerged as winners with their projects entitled "MINESpace" and "Occupants' Comfort". The top two teams were rewarded with a trip to the Philips' headquarters in Amsterdam, and upon their return, were mentored by experts from Philips Lighting to further develop their ideas into reality. "MINESpace", a system that combined a mobile app with the smart lights installed in two blocks of student apartments at the polytechnic enabled the entire process of nightly roll calls, inventory checking and fault reporting to be automated -- a first for any boarding school or hostel in Singapore. The 2nd project "Occupants' Comfort" made use of smart lights (called Power Over Ethernet, or PoE) to enhance the visual and thermal comfort of a classroom. Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and the University of Western Australia (UWA) celebrated a decade-long partnership of student exchange on 27 February 2015. The exchange programme provided almost 400 students (170 students from TP's Diploma in Communications and Media Management (CMM) and about 200 from UWA students) an opportunity to learn more about Australian education and culture for TP students and for Australian students to understand TP life and Singapore culture. His Excellency, the Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, Mr Philip Green, Professor Krishna Sen, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at UWA, Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, TP's School of Business as well as senior staff and students from both institutions attended the celebration held at Temasek Polytechnic. Sarah Ison of UWA and Jolene Chea of TP were among the many students who had benefitted from the exchange programme.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's "Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show" was held on Wednesday, 24 February 2016 at Temasek Polytechnic Main Foyer and Auditorium 2. One of the 30 final year projects showcased was the creation of an eParking mobile application and other innovative technical solutions to boost productivity and ease the workload of parking enforcement officers with the use of QR-code scanning. The simple-to-use Android application allowed drivers and motorists to select the location, period of time and load funds to fulfill a parking session. Some of the other final year projects showcased included "Tri-factor authentication mechanism to track event attendance" and "On-the-go volunteering". Industry partners like honestbee.com and SAFESURE Engineering also took part in the discussion on driving innovations with technology. Mr Aloysius Lau, panelist and MD of SAFESURE was a BIT alumnus.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and A*STAR's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) developed a new nano-engineered screen protector that turned the ordinary screens of handheld devices into 3D displays. It would be marketed by start-up, Nanoveu Pte Ltd. The unique plastic film could also potentially be used as next generation security tokens employed by banks and corporations. Dr Jaslyn Law, the IMRE scientist and Mr Frank Chan, the TP scientist who led the overall National Research Foundation (NRF) funded project worked on the product since 2010. Description: The Graduate Employment Survey (GES), jointly conducted by the five polytechnics in 2017, showed that polytechnic graduates continue to be in demand in the job market. The overall employment rate six months after graduation was at 87.3% (86.4% for fresh graduates, and 89.8% for post-NS graduates). Although there was a decline from 2016, employment rate remains healthy. The decline is partly due to year-on-year changes in labour market and economic conditions, and preferences of students upon graduation.

Among respondents who entered the labour force, the overall employment rate six months after graduation was 89.5%, 2.2 percentage points higher than in 2017. Description: The October intake of Temasek Polytechnic's School of Engineering showcased 30 final-year projects at the Engineering Project Show on 25 July 2013. Among the projects showcased were Aqua saver shower system -- a finalist in the Cool Ideas for Better HDB Living competition, this shower system automatically diverted water to a holding tank if its temperature was outside a pre-specified range, thereby saving water; Contactless charger -- a prototype of a contactless charger for mobile phones, laptops and other mobile devices; and Easy gripper -- this Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors' Award nominee for 2014 was a device which helped the elderly or those with weak fingers or sweaty palms to pull out an AC plug from its socket effortlessly and safely.

Description: TP InfoTech Day 2018 is an annual showcase of innovative projects by the final year students of the Temasek Polytechnic School of Informatics & IT. This year’s theme was “Digital Innovation and Transformation – Start Small, Think Big” and the projects were divided into three sub-themes: Future of Tech & FinTech, Growth & Opportunities in AI and Analytics and Next-Gen Security Evolution. The event showcased 30 projects developed by graduating students, some of which were done in collaboration with industry partners and various government agencies. Description: TP students created a Virtual Classroom App for Preschoolers which provided a full curriculum of services such as interactive lessons through games where children can see 3D objects in front of them. Real-time multiplayer games encourage teamwork and promote social skill development, and a point reward system can be exchanged for pets for a quicker assimilation of the subject being taught. The app was one of the 25 final-year projects developed by the graduating students of TP's Business Information Technology (BIT) course. Description: The inaugural Joint Poly-ITE Tourism Career Fair 2018 was launched on 31 October 2018 by Temasek Polytechnic (TP), which leads the Tourism Sector-Co-ordination team (SCT). The event, Tourism Transformation, raised tourism job profiles and encouraged students to pursue tourism sector careers, as well as served as a platform for tourism partners to showcase career progression pathways and engage potential talents. The Skills Framework for Tourism was also unveiled to support the manpower strategies, highlighting pivotal jobs and critical skills needed in the Tourism sector. It provides information on the sector, career pathways, identifies 109 existing and emerging skills and competencies across 69 occupations/job roles, as well as training programmes which support the development of these skills.
