Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and the University of Western Australia (UWA) celebrated a decade-long partnership of student exchange on 27 February 2015. The exchange programme provided almost 400 students (170 students from TP's Diploma in Communications and Media Management (CMM) and about 200 from UWA students) an opportunity to learn more about Australian education and culture for TP students and for Australian students to understand TP life and Singapore culture. His Excellency, the Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, Mr Philip Green, Professor Krishna Sen, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at UWA, Mr Daniel Yeow, Director, TP's School of Business as well as senior staff and students from both institutions attended the celebration held at Temasek Polytechnic. Sarah Ison of UWA and Jolene Chea of TP were among the many students who had benefitted from the exchange programme.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's "Meeting Young Minds @ BIT Project Show" was held on Wednesday, 24 February 2016 at Temasek Polytechnic Main Foyer and Auditorium 2. One of the 30 final year projects showcased was the creation of an eParking mobile application and other innovative technical solutions to boost productivity and ease the workload of parking enforcement officers with the use of QR-code scanning. The simple-to-use Android application allowed drivers and motorists to select the location, period of time and load funds to fulfill a parking session. Some of the other final year projects showcased included "Tri-factor authentication mechanism to track event attendance" and "On-the-go volunteering". Industry partners like honestbee.com and SAFESURE Engineering also took part in the discussion on driving innovations with technology. Mr Aloysius Lau, panelist and MD of SAFESURE was a BIT alumnus.

The Lee Kuan Yew Award 2014

Description: The Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science for polytechnics is awarded to the top technology or computer science graduates in each of the polytechnics. This Award is funded by an honorarium that the late founding Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew received from various speaking engagements and funds raised from a special edition of his memoirs. The Award was first presented at the 1993 Temasek Polytechnic graduation ceremony. The award recipients in 2014 were: Lee Li Ting (School of Applied Science), F Muhammad Faias (School of Engineering) and Peh Bi Yin Jody (School of Informatics & IT).

Lee Kong Chian Award for All-Round Excellence 2013

Description: The Lee Kong Chian Award for All-Round Excellence gives commendation and recognition to students who excel in both their studies and co-curricular activities. It is named after the prominent businessman and philanthropist, Lee Kong Chian, who set up the Lee Foundation in 1952 to aid the advancement of education and help the poor, among others. The Lee Foundation has sponsored the Lee Kong Chian Award for All-Round Excellence in honour of Mr Lee’s generous contributions to education and society. The award recipients in 2013 were: Kho Kian Hao (School of Humanities & Social Sciences) and Thng Boon Seong (School of Engineering).

The Ngee Ann Kongsi Most Outstanding Overcomer Award 2020

Description: The Ngee Ann Kongsi Most Outstanding Overcomer Award gives recognition to a student who has demonstrated strong perseverance in overcoming the odds and setbacks in life to complete the course of study with good academic records, and is exemplary in his or her conduct. Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and A*STAR's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) developed a new nano-engineered screen protector that turned the ordinary screens of handheld devices into 3D displays. It would be marketed by start-up, Nanoveu Pte Ltd. The unique plastic film could also potentially be used as next generation security tokens employed by banks and corporations. Dr Jaslyn Law, the IMRE scientist and Mr Frank Chan, the TP scientist who led the overall National Research Foundation (NRF) funded project worked on the product since 2010. Mrs Lay-Tan Siok Lie, Deputy Principal of TP, Mr Alfred Chong, Nanoveu Pte Ltd Founder and CEO and Prof Andy Hor, Executive Director of IMRE shared their comments on the product.
