Description

The legendary soccer star Pele, who won the World Cup three times with Brazil (in 1958, 1962 and 1970) visited Temasek Polytechnic on 28 November 2006. He was welcomed by thousands of staff, students, and local soccer fans at the Temasek Polytechnic sport complex. Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, signed autographs, hugged his fans, posed for photos, and also witnessed a friendly soccer match between Singapore national under-18 squad, and the Temasek Polytechnic soccer team. Other guests at the event were Mr Teo Ser Luck, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports (MCYS), and Mayor Zainudin Nordin of Central Singapore CDC. Mayor Zainudin Nordin is also the FAS Vice-President.
