Temasek Polytechnic's first Bandannas Day, a fund raising drive was held on 6 July 1998. The yellow bandannas was sold at $5 apiece during the Orientation finale and the proceeds from the sale went to four charitable organisations: the Singapore Association for the Deaf, the Handicap Welfare Association, the Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped, and the Spastic Children's Association of Singapore
