Description: Temasek Polytechnic officially moved to its new premises in 1995 with the Library occupying an 11-storey building. In March 2003, Library embarked on a major upgrading work lasting 7 months. The upgrading work involved floor levels 2 to 10 and was completed in October 2003. While the renovation was in progress, a temporary library entrance was created on Level 6 when the main entrance was hoarded up for major renovation on Level 2 and Level 3. The Exhibition Hall on level 2 no longer existed after renovation. Instead, Level 2 had a new PC cluster area, a Reserved Book Room (RBR) for its Red Spot collection and the New Arrivals display next to it as well as a sorting room for the RFID return & sorting bins. A brand new concept floor called the Lifestyle floor replaced the Business reference floor on Level 3 offering cable TVs, sound domes, the Podium, lifestyle books and newspapers and periodicals collections. The renovation also resulted in consolidation of service counters, re-grouping of resources and facilities for better access and navigation. Learning Resource Centre (LRC) had a brand new entrance and new shelves for its non-print collection on Level 4, while Level 5 became the Reference floor housing the reference collection, a research room and a bright orange coloured information counter. Levels 9 and 10 which previously housed the design collection and other facilities were re-designed to house the Seminar and Training Rooms (L9), and the Directorate Office, previously at Level 2 was relocated to Level 10. The end result of the renovation was a radically modified building facade with a new library entrance enhanced with new sliding doors to replace the existing swing doors to allow for better access and traffic flow into the Library. The Library was officially re-opened with a new facelift by guest-of-honour Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO on 22 October 2003.
