Beyond O Level Seminar 2020

Description: The annual Beyond O Level Seminar (BOL) was held on 11 January 2020 at the Temasek Polytechnic Auditorium 1. The Seminar was held in two sessions which catered exclusively to the needs of parents and students awaiting the 'O' level results. The event was organised by the Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and held in conjunction with TP's Open House. The aim of the seminar was to address the many questions parents and students had regarding a polytechnic education, admissions, scholarships, further education and career opportunities. After the Seminar, participants were also given opportunities to go on guided tours to explore TP's vibrant campus ground including many top-notch learning facilities.

Partnering Parents in Career Planning Seminar

Description: A seminar on "Partnering Parents in Career Planning" was held on 26 October 1996 at the Temasek Polytechnic Auditorium. The seminar was organised by Temasek Polytechnic to help parents and students decide between a junior college and polytechnic and how to choose a course in the polytechnic. It was a must-visit event that catered exclusively to the needs of parents and students awaiting the O level results. Organised by the Temasek Polytechnic (TP) and held in conjunction with TP's Open House, the aim of the informative seminar was to address the many questions parents and students had regarding polytechnic education. There were sharing sessions by Ms Sharon Soh, TP Registrar, TP alumni and and current students, as well as a Q&A session comprising of senior academic staff to answer any questions from the audience concerning the courses available, admission requirements and student life.

Description: Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Social & Family Development, officiated the Joint Poly-ITE Retail Seminar and Career Fair on Thursday, 27 July, at Temasek Polytechnic. The theme for 2017 was "Rethink retail", with a focus on productivity and innovation. Keynote speaker was Mr David Westhead, CEO of RSH (Singapore) Pte Ltd, who also participated in the panel discussion and Q&A that included the CEO of Lazada Singapore, Mr Alexis Lanternier, as well as Ms Yong Lee Ping, Business Analysis and Operations Manager, IKEA. There were also sharing sessions given by successful poly and ITE graduates, Law Choon Keong, Temasek Polytechnic - Class of 2016, Venezia Fong, Nanyang Polytechnic - Class of 2017, Nicole Chin, Singapore Polytechnic - Class of 2015 and Kevin Lim, Ngee Ann Polytechnic - Class of 2009. Launched in 2016, the Joint Poly-ITE Retail Seminar and Career Fair enabled students to gain valuable insights and have a better appreciation for the exciting careers in the retail industry.

Scholarship briefing session

Description: Temasek Polytechnic organised a scholarship briefing session for parents and students on 2 May 2012. TP's Registrar, Ms Sharon Soh Eng Khim briefed the audience on the types of scholarships available as well as the criteria and eligibility for the scholarships. The Temasek Polytechnic Scholarship is for all newly-enrolled and subsidised full-time diploma students who have good GCE O Level results (net aggregate of 10 points and below), CCA records, character, conduct, and who possess strong leadership qualities. The offer of these scholarships strongly reflects the Polytechnic's commitment to recognise deserving students for their outstanding achievements with the aim to further encourage and inspire them to excel in their academic pursuits. The award of these scholarships is made possible through TP and by the generous donations from reputable donor organisations and individuals.

Press release. 11 Jun 2012. TP launches Centre for Applied Nutrition Services

Description: The Centre for Applied Nutrition Services (CANS) was launched at Temasek Polytechnic's Nutrition Symposium on 19 June 2012. The Centre provided holistic support service in areas of applied nutrition to the various food and health-related industries as well as the nutrition, health and wellness sectors. According to Dr Lee Chee Wee, Director, School of Applied Science, TP had received close to half a million dollars from industry collaborations and consultancy services related to food & nutrition projects as well as healthy product development. Completed projects included healthier cheesecakes from AllanBakes, glycemic index (GI) testing of products from local and multinational companies, HACCP/food safety and nutritional analysis.
