Maxwell, world-renowned leadership expert spoke on "Raising youth leaders" on day 1 and "Leadership gold" on day 2. Minister for Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat was the guest-of-honour at the start of the Forum and delivered the opening address. Mr Boo Kheng Hua, Principal & CEO, Temasek Polytechnic delivered the welcome address.

Poly-ITE Social Innovation Research Forum 2013

Description: Temasek Polytechnic (TP) hosted the annual Poly-ITE Social Innovation Research (SIR) Forum - a platform to showcase projects co-funded by Tote Board as part of the Social Innovation Research (SIR) Fund on Tuesday, 30 July in TP's Auditorium 2. Supported by the National Council of Social Services (NCSS), the SIR Forum 2013 featured 21 research projects related to healthcare, special needs, the elderly, and the environment, undertaken by staff and students from the Institute of Technical Education, Nanyang, Ngee Ann, Republic, Singapore and Temasek Polytechnics. Presentations were made by representatives from each polytechnic and the ITE. The event also included a sharing session by Mrs June Tham, Executive Director, Rainbow Centre, Singapore and Mrs Eunice Tay, CEO, National Kidney Foundation. The SIR Fund provides seed funding for R&D projects that bring social and environmental benefits, and enables these institutions to devise creative and feasible solutions for deployment. Mr Boo Kheng Hua, TP's Principal & CEO gave the opening address.

Description: The annual Beyond O Level Seminar (BOL) was held on 20 January 2006 at Temasek Polytechnic, Auditorium 1. It was a must-visit event that catered exclusively to the needs of parents and students awaiting the O level results. Parental guidance seminar 2017

Description: The annual parental guidance seminar was held on Saturday, 17 June 2017. TP hosted the seminar for 1,000 parents and students at the Temasek Convention Centre. They got to find out more about a polytechnic education, TP courses, scholarships, and further education and career opportunities. During the seminar, attendees had a chance to engage with TP's Principal and CEO, Mr Peter Lam, Senior Director and Registar, Mr Daniel Yeow, Director of Academic Affairs, Mr Sng Choon Leng, and Victoria Skull, a third-year student from the Diploma in Digital Film & Television. They were able to get a clearer understanding of the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) and how Temasek Polytechnic helps build lifelong learners in its students. The seminar also consisted of a school tour where participants got to know more about the courses offered in each school. They also visited facilities such as the labs used by students from the Diploma in Applied Food Science and Nutrition and the MediaBiz Studio used by Communications and Media Management students.

Young leaders series, October 2013

Description: The Temasek Polytechnic hosted the Young leaders series for students from different secondary schools on 29 October 2013. Organised by the Corporate Communications Department, this series of events invited outstanding students with good academic and CCA records to come to TP for a day and get a taste of some of the opportunities they would be able to enjoy as TP Scholars and student leaders. This outreach programme, which imparted essential life skills while showcasing the benefits of a TP education was conducted by the Centre for Character & Leadership Education and the Entrepreneurship Centre. Besides students learning about building self-confidence, the series of indoor and outdoor programmes enabled the students not only to focus on achieving strong leadership and teamwork skills, but also looked to the needs of the team members and developed their potential.

Polytechnic Foundation Programme seminar : through-train pathway for Normal (Academic) students

Description: On 28 August 2013, more than 1,000 secondary school students and their parents as well as teachers attended the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) seminar held at the Republic Polytechnic. Mr William Lim, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education (MOE) Higher Education Division, enlightened guests on the PFP. PFP offers a practice-oriented curriculum to prepare Normal (Academic) students for entry into relevant polytechnic diploma courses. This programme is an alternative pathway to Secondary Five and offers students the opportunity to pursue more than 80% of diploma courses offered in the five local polytechnics. Ms Katherine Rajah, Temasek Polytechnic's Assistant Director, School of Engineering Academic Development spoke on TP's PFP one-year programme which offers a practice-oriented curriculum that is specially designed to lay a strong foundation in Language and Mathematics and give polytechnic-bound Normal (Academic) students a foretaste of their chosen diploma courses. The seminar's Q&A session provided a platform for the audience to raise questions regarding PFP to a panel comprising of representatives from MOE and the five polytechnics.

The symposium was followed by the launch of the Centre for Traditional Medicine by guest of honour Mr Ted Tan. Mr Tan and symposium participants were given a tour of the Centre for Traditional Medicine after the launch. The Centre provides an integrated approach to present ASc's comprehensive capabilities in traditional medicine (TM) to the industry. With the growing interest in this alternative medical system, the Centre would serve as a one-stop centre offering services ranging from consultancy to training especially in the modernisation of the TM industry as it hopes to preserve the relevance of TM for the younger generation, focusing on the quality, safety and efficacy of TM.

Description: The Senior Minister of State, Mr Lawrence Wong, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts and Ministry of Education was the guest-of-honour at the closing ceremony of Polytechnic Forum 2012 which was held on Friday, 21 September 2012 at the Temasek Convention Centre, Temasek Polytechnic. Some 300 student representatives from the five polytechnics who spent the last four days in intensive discussions at a residential programme in Desaru, Malaysia, put forward their recommendations to the Senior Minister in an open dialogue session. Since its launch in 1996, the Polytechnic Forum serves as a platform for polytechnic students to discuss and exchange their views on key national and global issues. The forum also advocates active youth citizenry and nurtures inspired and committed youth with strong convictions about their roles in the community.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic's Centre for Applied Gerontology, the Diploma in Gerontological Management Studies and the School of Humanities & Social Sciences organised an ageing symposium themed, "Towards successful ageing" on 22 August 2017. The symposium took a holistic approach covering the physical (exercise), cognitive (brain training), and socio-emotional (mindfulness) dimensions, through having a select panel of distinguished experts in their respective fields. The aim was to stimulate dialogue on the pressing concern for the likely increase in cognitive problems faced by our rapidly ageing population. The symposium also saw the launch of MindWorks, a brain training app that contained a set of six games designed for older adults that target memory, attention, logic, and arithmetic calculation, by TP's Principal & CEO, Mr Peter Lam and Prof. Ryuta Kawashima, Director of the Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer (IDAC), Tohoku University. Keynote speakers included Prof. Ryuta Kawashima and Prof. Linda Lam. Other presenters at the Ageing Symposium 2017 were Prof. Kua Ee Heok, Dr. Grace Lee, Asst Prof. Julian Lim, Mr Sam Sim Kim Yang, Ms. Ee Sharifah Rose and Dr. Philip Yap Lin Kiat.

Description: Temasek Polytechnic played host to more than 900 secondary school students at the 12th annual Engineering & Science Discovery event on Wednesday, 14 October, 2015, at the Temasek Convention Centre. Jointly organised by Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic, the annual event for secondary school students was designed to introduce them to engineering in a simple, engaging way. On display was an exhibit by Singapore Science Centre, some interactive science models developed by the polytechnics and a video presentation by IN.Genius on space exploration attempts to put a Singaporean into space that year. Mr Seto Lok Yin, Chairman, Steering Committee for Learning Engineering at Polytechnics (LEAP) delivered the welcome address. Two guest speakers delivered their keynote addresses, "Innovation is a journey - not an idea" by Mr. Lim Seng, Founder, IN.Genius and "Fascinating physics in engineering" by Associate Professor Dr. Janchai Yingprayroon, Deputy Director for Academic Services and Research, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Bangkok. To bring home the fun in Engineering, Mr Tan Jui Kuan, performed a magic show "Discovering engineering with magic!".
